Hey all,
I've got a
PPC-6700 that's been through the wringer... for almost the entire year and a half that I've owned it, I hadn't put any effort into making the phone (or built-in data; only bluetooth and Wi-Fi) functionality actually work. I thought Verizon would charge me to activate a phone and I didn't look any further than that. Now I came to find that Verizon will activate a new ESN for free, so I went on a phone-swapping frenzy as I'm now sick and tired of carrying both my '6700 and my LG VX8300 phone around with me whereever I go.
After flashing to Verizon's XV6700 ROM, it was as simple as entering my ESN into Verizon's site and hitting "Submit", and dialing *228 to program the phone. It worked great for texting and calling, just like the old phone. But I didn't put any thought into making data work since I declined a data plan (too darn expensive)! With my old VX8300 I had Verizon V-Cast service and I tweaked the programming to let me get "emergency internet access" anywhere on the go via Bluetooth tethering on my laptop. That was a godsent, and something I gave up with activating the PPC6700.
Well, I came to think that perhaps I could make my '6700
imitate (details withheld, lol) my other VX8300 (I have two) that hadn't been used in years. That worked as well, and I could still text and call, and I got V-Cast service activated again, this time on the PPC under the radar. Well, there's just one problem.
For some reason, despite having Verizon's ROM and radio stack installed on the PPC6700 (it now completely knows it's Verizon), it actually pops up "Error Code: 67 / Registration failure. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect. Please try again". Err, how the heck is that possible? How does this PPC even know what PCS Vision
is anymore?
I've poked and prodded around the EFS and I don't know where to go other than prodding around with the ESN file/s. Is there some data programming that needs to be done to get this thing on the Verizon EVDO network?
