upgrading xv6700

I just bought an xv6700, but I'm looking to upgrade it to wm6 as well as have touchflo (i think? i still have not been able to find whether touchflo is a separate ui, or touch controls) I have seen that there are a bunch of different roms for WM6, i found one of the original roms but i think that it's old, where are some of the newest roms? also, where can i find touchflo, if it's touchflo that i'm looking for?

I'm just getting into tweaking my 6800, so I can't help much in regard to upgrading to WM6. What I can say is that touchflo is a beast when it comes to memory usage which isn't really the strong suit of these devices. Although touchflo looks nice, it tends to lock up the device in practical use. I have reviewed and will purchase both SPB Pocket Plus and SPB MobileShell which are richer and less demanding on memory overall. Good luck with your search! I Hope this helps a little bit.

Yeah, I agree that you are trying to do too much with a 67. It wasnt meant for neither WM6(.1) or TF and you are just going to bog it down to where it is unusable.

hm, well what about cooking my own wm6 rom with minimal extra features, and then using another ui like pointui? or other ui's that run well on a 6700 with wm6?

I cooked a few ROMs over at PPCKitchen. I tried the two newest bases (20931 & 20755) but both didn't work well so I went back to one of their older ones (207. I added VERY little - a few games, MS Voice Commander (which doesn't work nearly as well as I had hoped) and one of the dialers with larger buttons. This build is solid.

I tried the Touch Flo app in the Kitchen and that worked like crap. I tried the shareware, ThrottleLauncher and it's slow and too difficult to configure. I tried Ifonz - didn't like it. Tried Touch Commander - not impressed.

I have not tried PointUI or Manila 2d but after messing around with SPB Pocket Plus 4, I decided that functionality was more important than flashyness. I also tried SPB Mobil shell but while Pocket Plus doesn't have the fancy UI that Mobil shell does, I found it to be much more functional with all its features...

it adds very nice touch scrolling to many apps, and has a lot of Close Button options - the best of which (for me) is the ability to assign the OK hard button to actually Close apps as opposed to minimize. It's very intutive to customize as well.

I gave up on all the Touch-Flo like apps and I'm pretty happy with Pocket Plus....
