Hello,
i just got a ppc 6700 with sprint.. and i am trying to connect to my home router. i have searched the forum for my problem and did what was adivced by some of you.. e.g. turning off MAC filter, disabeling WEP and so on..
but i still can not connect to my router. although i was successful connecting to Starbucks and other wifi spots.
when i turn on my WIFI and it is searching for networks, it finds alot of networks including my router. then i hit connect and put in my network key.. it says connecting for like 5 seconds then it stop and says "available". so basically it never connects.
i have an Encore G router. i have mac filter disabled, Security(wep) disabled, network unlocked. i dont know what else i can do to the router so they can talk.
I had a similar problem with my Linksys router. My problem turned out to be a setting that optimized for "g" series wireless cards. After I turned that off, I connected fine (with wep turned on, BTW). Don't know if you have a similar setting with your router, but it might point you in the right direction.
JFW
thank you JFW and Marc,
i turned the g wireless off and "open" the network, and i finally got connected.
but as soon as i enabled back the security, it wouldnt let me connect again. it connects only if i have the security disabled.
any idea?
UPDATE
i have finally got it. i changed the data encrption of my router into TKIP, since thats the only option available in 6700's network configuratuon..
The reason you guys are having to turn off 'g' is because the 67 only does 802.11b. MAC filtering will work assuming you go into the routers GUI and add the MAC address in. I assume you are using WPA(2) which is why you are using TKIP. Keep in mind that is you are using a laptop and maybe something else wireless in the house that run off 802.11g, when you connect anything else 802.11b is will bring everything else down to 802.11b meaning your transfer rates from device to device will only do a max of 11Mbps. Most people will never know the difference because most people do not transfer a lot of or huge sized files from device to device. Glad to see you got it working though. Now go play with your power/preformance settings in the device and see what you can tweak.
I have an HTC 6700...when I connect to the WIFI in my home (no security or passwords needed), I cannot get to the internet. I've reset the router, etc. and no luck. Is there something anyone knows of to help solve this issue?? My connection manager shows that I am connected to the network, I'm just not able to do anything. I'm hoping to get this working so that I can use Skype.
Try specifying the DNS addresses in the PPC and see what you get. With MAC filtration though you can connect but not surf so look into that as well. The 6700 is 802.11b only so set your touer to mixed or only B
