MMS thinks photos are videos

This has been an issue with all the different ROMS I've tried. Never searched for a solution until now, but couldn't find any mention of this issue.

Whenever I receive an MMS photo, the phone thinks it's a video and runs a video player for 2 seconds. I have to pause it if I want to look at the photo for more than 2 seconds. When it's done, it gives the message information - sender, date, duration (2 seconds), etc...

Any way to see my photos as they're meant to be seen?

Also, I don't know if this is by design or not, but if I want to reply to a photo message without sending a photo attached, I can't simply hit reply. I have to exit out of the MMS app and use the "Messaging" app - is this how's it's supposed to be?

what video player opens to open the picture? my first thought is that it is set to open that type of file type, so maybe you just have to remove that file type from the video player and it'll go back to default.

and you should be able to just hit reply from MMS and reply w/o a picture. what ROM are you using?

All that you describe has been default behavior for the Arcsoft MMS app on every rom I ever had - always thought it was kind of goofy, but still default.
