Has anybody used one of these? There is a $25 rebate from Socket, and I found one for $108.02 at http://www.nextwarehouse.com so that brings the price down to $83.02 - which seems pretty good for a 7200mAh rechargable, especially since I could use it for my iPod and both of my phones. TIA for any input - sheureka
Okay - 50 people have looked at this thread - and nobody is giving me any advice! I'm such a sucker for things that come in cute little cases I'll probably just go ahead and buy it. Even without your advice - sheureka
No advice... but it does look like a good idea, although kind of pricey for a battery.
My $0.02
I couldn't find it on the website you linked to though. And that connector doesn't look like it fits my phone... but it's probably just a generic pic.

Here's the real specs on it - http://www.socketcom.com/product/AC4009-614.asp . I have a charging USB cable for my 6600, and can plug that directly into the battery or the travel plug should work. It costs much less than the 3300mAh phone battery and seems more practical to me (and it's cooler looking ) - sheureka
Yeah, but it's another thing tethered to your side and phone.
At least the 3550 mAh battery is connected to the phone. Better option IMHO.
But you know what they say about opinions......

I just ordered it Saturday! But I'll let you know when I do get it. I know it will work with the usb/sync charging cable that I got from ppctechs - and it comes with 3.5, 2.5 and 4 mm barrel connectors, so one of them is bound to work with the OEM travel adapter. - sheureka

Ha! You can't charge your BT receiver and your iPod with your battery! I am going to be doing quite a bit of traveling this December, mostly by plane and rental car, so it will be very nice to not have to load up my suitcase with power cords. I'll take the car charger for the phone, but other than that I'm just planning on using this battery for everything - sheureka

I'd be internested in your review. Hope it works as you want it to!

It came today - and is charging right now (they say 7 hours for a full charge). So far I've tried the included retractable iPod cord (works) and found the right plug for my BT338 GPS receiver. I'm going to use my L'il Sync Pro for the 6600, so I know it will work. The whole thing is nicely packaged and very "professional" looking. The "travel" pouch is big enough to hold the AC adapter, BT mouse, GPS receiver, extra SD and wifi cards, extra batteries (for GPS and phone) and a couple of different headsets. I'm very pleased (although I haven't been able to actually use it for its intended purpose yet)! Now to get that rebate form in the mail - sheureka

So it is (less than) 7 hours later and my battery is fully charged. The 4.0mm barrel connector fits the 6600 travel charger adapter and also charges the BT338. I'm not going to even need my L'il Sync Pro (unless I take my laptop)! And the included iPod retractable cord (it's even white!) works with my iPod. I'm quite pleased and would recommend this setup for anyone who travels with toys (or who spends hours in waiting rooms). - sheureka
I came to San Diego from Kansas a couple of days ago. Unfortunately my bags (and wheelchair!) went somewhere else and I didn't get them until this morning.
I am so glad I have this power supply. I've been running my phone and iPod (I can't fly without audible books) since Tuesday morning and everything is still topped off. And I've used the phone a lot - mostly on hold with United airlines baggage. Finally got the bag with the cords this morning and am charging my Power Pack back up now. I'm very, very satisfied with this purchase - sheureka
I have had one of these for about one year. I bought to recharge my camera and pocketpc during a 10 day mission trip to Africa, where power was not a available. It recharged my hx4700 from about 30% to 100% six times, plus we used it to recharge my panasonic d-snap camera the same number of times. It is not very big although you would not want to carry it in a pocket. It is a great backup source of power and if you have a usb charging cable it will power/recharge your device. It works well with my xv6600. I don't know how many times you can recharge it from the socket because I have yet to exhaust the socket before I plug it in to top it off. All in all, a nice device if you have to be away from power for extended periods of time, but if you just need more juice during the day, I recommend an extra battery.
I was looking for reviews of the GlobalSat BT headphones and saw this new review of the Socket Power Pack so I thought I'd resurrect this thread for anyone who still may be interested - http://mobilitytoday.com/articles/mo..._solution.html. Unfortunately the $25 rebate period is over and the cheapest price now is about $100. - sheureka
ps - Just realized I can also use it to power my new GlobalSat headset!
Hi I brought the Mobile power pack from Socket and really like it you get up to 16 hours of power time before you have to recharge and it, It can be recharged over 500 hours before you lose even 15 percent of the power on it. it is well worth it have the slingmobile and I can go through a extended battery on the I 730 in a little over an hour so when I go out I don't have to take a butch of extra batteries and believe me I have enough I have 5 extended batteries for the I 730 but playing the Slingmobile takes a lot of power. and besides that it also works on my digital camera and Bluetooth headset.
To sheureka and anyone else who has a Socket Mobile Power Pack, please help because I bought one and I can't get it to work with the PPC-6700. I have the Socket pack charged and it works perfectly to charge an iPod and a cordless phone and a GPS that use a mini-USB jack for charging. But if I take the exact same cable from the Socket that works perfectly with the other devices, and plug it into the PPC-6700, nothing happens. The PPC doesn't indicate that it is charging, and if I wait awhile it's power level goes down as though no charger is plugged in.
So if your Socket is working with your 6700, are you using the data cable that came with the 6700 to connect from the USB output of the Socket to the mini-USB on your phone? Does the phone indicate it is charging? Are there any tricks I'm not thinking of?

I haven't had any problems using it with my 6700 - in fact I'm on a trip right now and have been using it a lot. I either use the cable from my cradle or a PPCTechs retracting cable and I haven't had any problems with either one. Hope you get it figured out because it's a great gadget! - sheureka
