Actually you also need to add some more s*ht to it: specifically, let us know what "configurations" make it work, and where "outside the US" it works with those configurations.

Thanks

Please do provide infomation. I have seen the son of Blue Angel in France working on their "Orange" FranceTelecom system but I think it only looks like "our" 6600 and has different band capabilities (?GSM 900 & 1800). I have asked in the past whether the little slot in the back works to accept their little (?SIMM) cards and was informed that these slots are inop on our US versions of the 6600. In the past I have used old ATT phone over in Europe that take the cards after the phones are unlocked. These have worked fine.

I was in Mexico this past summer & the xv6600 does in fact work. VZ told me to be sure to *228 before leaving the country to update the phone's software & roaming tables.

When in Mexico, people who dialed my number from the US reached me as if I was in the US. To call home, I needed to dial the country code for the US first.

However, the only thing that worked was the phone itself. No voicemail indicator or data. Didn't try SMS.

Incidentally, I had the same experience earlier in the year in Venezuela.

Hope this has been helpful.

Please everyone. Hold your horses and let david_sianipar respond.

Mexico and Canada are all part of North America and use the same system.

David -- how did you get your phone to work in indonesia?

As I recall he planned to use his vx6600 on an indonesian CDMA carrier. He said he planned on getting a local PRL and programing it from there. Guess it worked!

For What it is worth - WORKS Great in China.

Just have to call Verizon.. Tell them you are going..
They will ask you to *228.

Plane Landed in Shanghai - Full Signal and easy outgoing calls.

Hi,

Sorry for the sh*t, i just tried to describe how the struggle to make this XV6600 to be worked in Indonesia ( I live in Jakarta, with operator : TELKOMFLEXI, running CDMA 2000 1X/EVDO at 1900MHz). It took almost 2 months to make it work and i already asked everybody who might known of XV6600 include the staff of operator, but none, finally tried by myself (trial and error) could make it work.

I just realized that all you need to do is change the PRL that suit to your carrier. And if you all see at the old threads, 'mazerin' ever configured PRL for Indonesia asked by 'juvesun', and this 'juvesun' announced in one of Indonesia's Forum of PDA in internet that he success to configure by himself (what a lier!).
And you know what, i tried once to contact him and he replied that he will help me if i pay 1 million rupiahs (US100)..hehe..again..sh*t!!

So, after i tried many times configuring the PRL, i got the suitable configuration. If you open QPST or such like that, in my country, i should make PRL using IS-683A+1XEV mode, and add the frequencies that applicable to the operator.
And also, you have to register your ESN and inject the number/MSID to XV6600 thru ##778.
That's it, after that...my XV6600 got the signal !

So...hope you all who got same problems like mine could try again and hope your XV6600 could work!

once again..thanks for all the support!

BR,
David

What kind of roaming rates were you billed? I have to be in Costa Rica next month to finalize a project and hadn't planned to bring my 6600 since I was of the belief that it wouldn't be operative?

I think Costa Rica is all GSM. The 6600 will work in Nicaragua and Panama - but not in between. Go here for more info - http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/co...=1127855402635 - sheureka

Oops! Just realized you may be on Verizon!

Yep, I'm on Verizon and trying out the 6700 from Sprint now too, but my eval period will be up before the trip to CR. Thanks for the help anyway, Sheureka. I may still be with Sprint if all goes right with the 6700.

Basically xv6600 can be used anywhere in the world, as long as you know what channel your provider is on and of course ... the correct prl.
