Playing Video (WMV) in Media Plaer - Help!

Hi Folks - I'm trying to download a major league baseball game purchased from mlb.com. When I played it on my laptop XP Media Player 10 it worked fine and acquired the license no problem.

I copied it using Explorer to my storage card. But when I try to play the file on my 6600 with MP9 I get an error:

"The license for this file cannot be found. Use Windows Media Player on your PC to copy the file to your device again."

So when I try to syncronize it using MP10 from my PC to the PocketPC I get an error:

"Windows Media Player cannot synchronize the protected file. Protected files cannot be converted to the required quality level or file format (C00D1186)."

I'm in a catch-22, the PPC says use Media Player to copy it, but when I try that it says it cannot do it. Help!!!

Thanks,
Baer

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../features.aspx

See the third feature down.

Support for DRM'ed (protected) content was not added until Windows Media Player version 10. What you have on your device is version 9.

It cannot be simply updated via a program. To get a new version of Windows Media Player you need a completely new ROM on your device.

Things are looking up, however. HTC has created a ROM for our devices that contains version 10. It is just a matter of getting Audiovox to package it up and make it available. In another thread, someone asked Audiovox and they indicated a summer time frame for this.

Thanks Chill

That explains it! Ohhh whoa, the challenge of integration across platforms! I'm pissed at MLBaseball for advertising that their videos play on portable devices, yet Windows Mobile doesn't support them!

I want my Media Player 10!!!!

I know it sucks... MS really shouldn't have integrated WMP so far into the ROM of the device.

But the future looks bright for you to get WMP10 on your 6600... maybe even in time for the playoffs
