No JOY.... Looks like I'm sticking with 1.3.00wwe & 1.36.116wwe...

I'm tired of futzin with it. I'm a systems analyst so it's not like I'm not hw/sw savy.... just don't have the patience w/o a bit more support.

Thanks to those who responded.

Question:

On Ehuds's site, in the step by step instructions to update to ROM 2.04.00, Between steps 13 and 14, it says

"Note: some say not to USE ntrw as it is reputed to write a FAT header in front of the useful data"

So my question is, what is the alternative to ntrw, and has ntrw (or an alternative) worked most people?

Sorry for what's probably a stupid question, but I've never done anytihng like this before and I really don't want to turn my phone into a brick.

Actually, i think i used something called physdiskwrite.exe from ehuds instructions. my 2.04 upgrade has been fine.

yeah, thanks for the info.

I actually just followed his instructions step by step and it worked. I guess in the note I posted he is talking baout using ntrw in another fashion (instead of using physdiskwrite or whatever).

So larry...

use physdiskwrite.exe instead of ntrw?? Because ntrw won't read my SD at all/gives access denied...

I get to Ehud's step 11 & it just pukes out...

Thanks,
David

Just follow Ehud's step by step instructions EXACTLY as he wrote them (the numbered stepd). Don't worry about the note. It's not talking about step 11.

It was confusing for me, but eventually I ignored the note and just followed the numbered steps and it all worked fine.

Success

Ok... Finally got it to work... ONE little difference in the instructions was holding me back.

I tried this on 2 machines w/built in card readers & it wouldn't work. I went out & bought an external reader & it still wouldn't work...

I was plugging in the reader, then the card & it wouldn't pick it up. I finally put the card in the reader, THEN plugged in the reader & VIOLA... it picked up the card.

It's the little things that can make ya NUTS!

Thanks for everyones help.

David

Please help me find a way to get my thinkoutside bluetooth keyboard/mouse to work with PPC-6600. Need the cab no longer offered from Ehud. It worked fine until I lost cab in a crash. Also, PC won't load Activesync. I have old activesync from Ipaq 3635. Otherwise, my 6600 is amazing!

You mean this page that's no longer hosting all these great cabs?
You need the Broadcomm patch about 3/4 of the way down.
As far as ActiveSync goes... try the newest available version or wait a few weeks for AS4 to be officially released (or find it online with... a search).
Here's MS AS3.8.

Which patch? If you're talking about the Broadcom patch, you need it if you want to use a BT keyboard or mouse, or you want a stereo BT headset - none of the stacks available for the 6600 will support those profiles without the patch. - sheureka

>> do i stll have to run that patch?
> Which patch?

The patch that makes uppercase letters work, and provides specificity for questions.

For example, without the patch, the person might illiterately say "i want a patch". With the patch that same person would say "I am needing to get the XXX patch, so that YYY will work."

I'm probably not doing something very simple, but I can't instal the patch on my PPC. I made it all the way to the step where I haev to go to file on my PPC and click on it. Ig et a message saying there is on application associated with "BTCEA 1. Run the application first then open this file from within the application. What am I doing wrong. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Attempting to install a patch on your PPC. Leave it alone.

I have no idea why it isn't working for you.

All I did was download the file to my SD card, use file explorer to browse the SD card, click on that file, and it then installed itself.

I did use my desktop PC to download the file, and then used my card reader to copy the file to my SD card. I didn't use ActiveSync to get it on the card, and I didn't use the Pocket PC to download it. So maybe that has something to do with it...

The card reader part, that's the part I messed up, with LOL!!! Ehud, I finally thought something you said was funny. Uninformative but funny. But hey hey your ratio for help/to wise comments that actually funny, compared to help/ and wise comments that's not funny, and make you look bad, is actually getting better. But in all seriousness. That "one" was funny.

Question Voice Dial BT Headsets

I have a logitech BT headset and it works fine for incoming calls. I also on a Honda Sportbike and have been looking at the CARDO BT headset for Motorcycle Helmets. It offers Voice Dial/Answer/Ignore features. I am wondering if this will work with my XV6600 (VZW).

I have upgraded to BT3900B also. Dunno if that even matters.

Anyone have these voice dial headsets out there?

TIA.
