A downgrade involves running the "upgrade" program again with the lower version number roms, or the official upgrade available from Audiovox. "Upgrade" program is a little misleading because it can be used for both upgrading and downgrading. Doing a backup and then trying to restore from it will NOT restore your rom to its previous version and is NOT recommended anyway after an upgrade. You should start from scratch and reinstall all your apps to ensure everything runs cleanly.

there is 2 things that i want to do
(1) sync with wmp
should i upgrade my PDA rom or downgrade my desktop wmp10 to wmp9
(2) do i need to upgrade to a new rom to here music through a bluetooth headset
thanks
If you can handle doing it, definitely upgrade the PDA. As far as the BT headset goes, I can't speak from experience because I don't use one. You might need to install the A2DP profiles though, which can be found with a quick search or Google.

Having some issues with my BT headset.
I went to Ehud's BT page, but it hasn't been updated since February (not that I don't greatly appreciate what is on there) so I'm not sure what to do at this point.
I'm using the 3900 BT stack.
About 50% of the incoming calls and almost all of the outgoing calls aren't automatically transferring over to my BT headset. They will, sometimes, if I press the headset button after the call is completed. But sometimes I hear the connection tone, but still get silence. Callers/callees report that they can hear me, but I hear nothing.
Is anyone else having more success with a different stack?

Probably you have a headset which doesn't work well with that stack. There are some headsets that don't work well with *any* stack for the phone.
The best stack I've used is the 3600 stack, but that's what's best for me for *my* headsets. (HS810 and itech clip).
The page hasn't been updated since February because there are no new updates If someone releases 3600 as a CAB it will go on there... or if there's a newer than 3900 release that too shall go on there

I liked the 3600 stack also. I had it from the Audiovox update but lost it when I went to 2.03. I see it's back on 2.04. I'm just not feeling comfortable with the procedure for updating in that way. Yet.
What do you think might be the 2nd best stack? I'm using a Motorola HS850 and an HS820 for backup. I've got a Logitech Mob Freedom that my wife sometimes uses and that had also worked well (but I didn't have chargers for it and didn't like the way it fit) that I'd use if it synced better with a particular stack.
In my previous post I was just "fishing" for some follow-up comments to the ones you had about the 3900, 3900B or 3500C stacks on your page.

The 3601 stack dll cannot be extracted. If you're looking for a more fool-proof upgrade process then wait for the official upgrade coming from Sprint/Audiovox in the next couple weeks. Oh, and cross your fingers.

I have been happy with the 2.03 rom and BT stack, so I am not going to bother with 2.04 for now, although the instructions at Ehud's website look pretty straight forward.
VZW sent me a new XV6600 today because the battery latch on the original one I got in January broke and I kept having the battery drop off. The new one HAS A CAMERA!
First thing I did was do the 2.03 update again, then restored my spritebackup after the extended rom re-loaded (and after I had the phone activated and knew it was working). Everything works as before except I had to re-enter my re-programmed button settings, and re-enter my email passwords to my pop mail servers - those items didn't restore. Camera does work after the update.

Because you restored a 6600woc backup on top of a 6600.
Feel free to search for my post from January or February that describes why this is not a good idea, and what the multiple differences between the two are.
I used the sprite backup "upgrade option" where I saved the UpgradeData.sbu file while I still had 2.03 running, then used that file for the 2.03 restore ontop of 2.04 rom
Will that have helped? It would be possible (PITA) to just hard reset and reinstall apps from my cab files and sync my data back over if I have problems.

When I upgraded the 1.36 6600 with camera to 2.03, then I restored my 2.03 6600woc sprite backup onto the 2.03 with camera using the UpgradeData.sbu file I saved from the woc model.
Then I backed it up again after the 6600 with camera had everything on it. Then, after I went to 2.04 I again restored with sprite backup with rom upgradedata.sbu selected.
Hmmm...
