but I seem to get calls even when I am browsing the web (3G connection). So they may have been right that it really isn't necessary to have a Disconnect button for this function.
You will only receive calls when the connection is dormant (up/down arrows are grey). If you ignore the call, your connection will stay dormant unless you disconnect. When the 3G is active (ie, when the up/down arrows are black), all your calls will be forwarded to your v/m without any rings.
Regards,
K

I have noticed (while using IM+) that if a call comes in while dormant and you answer the call, the IP connection goes down. I was logged into Yahoo Messenger and was in the middle of a chat when a call came in. I answered the call, and the person I was chatting with said I went offline.
why do you need to have an off button for vision, please list several reasons?
is one of them to use wifi card without having toreset the phone each time after vision connected?

Me? Mostly so I know its down and that calls will come through.
Required? No. Could I do without it? Probably.
I'm happier knowing I can shut it off. (Say if I accidentally had some net program running in the background reguarly taking up air time). All those times phone calls won't come through.
Those are my reasons. I suspect others have similar reasons.
This is my second ppc and first phone pda and I could have never imagined there is so much you can do to these puppies. And with your tweaks, my experience gets more seamless by the day.
With that said I felt the need to throw in my 2 cents here...
C'mon guys -- bluetooth wireless dial-up access!!!
If your phone is dormant and you try to start the wireless modem -- nope, won't let cha. For an impatient-sales-guy-on-the-road, this tweak of yours is invaluable for my heartburn.
On another note I found this guy's site when looking for a "close all" button - his programs are simple but seem to be quite handy:
Dunno about the key stroke, but the launcher and the pocket nav seem to be compatible with the 6601. Maybe this is old boring stuff to you. Is there a better close app program maybe??
Anyways, thanks for your sharing and very cool ideas!!

Well 2 things.
One I read that it didn't work on Sprint phones........... maybe that isn't true now.
Two, I couldn't figure out which selection to make within the app. It is still on my phone right now, actually being used.... I have 3 options on it.
Neither
Disconnect Button
Disconnect Button/Elapsed Time
I have the Disconnect Button selected but there is NO disconnect button on my device, anywhere.............
Stumped! So I wanted to do the registry edit......... can't get that to work either!

Well, I did the registry edits before RICoder came out with the tweak utility, but I installed it any way and it picked up my settings so it has the Disconnect Button/Elapsed Time option ticked.
Are you sure you are looking in the right spot? To see the disconnect option, you need to tap the signal bars (not the black Vision arrows) and a bubble will pop up with the option to disconnect as well as the duration of the connection. You will only see this option in the bubble if you are connected to Vision. If not, then you will see the #777 option (and tapping on that will connect you to Vision).
I have read every thread I could find on here, including one with Ehud's links to all the relevant threads and could not find an answer to this question for Verizon XV6600...
Has anyone tried the above fixes on the XV 6600? If so, what were the results? I would like to be able to have the disconnect and timer features while I am waiting for EVDO in my area. As with all the rest of the people in 1x areas, I am not able to receive calls while the data connection is going. This would not be such a big problem if the data connection ever went dormant (as far as I can tell this is a Sprint only feature), was easier to disconnect (pressing the END button for me often takes more than 8 seconds), and did not insist on reconnecting even after I have closed POutlook or PIE (requiring you to have to go into settings/memory to close all active programs) - before you say it, I have all sync setting set to manual.

Im confused because on my 6600 to see the pop up window, I need to click on the white horizontial arrows next to the signal strength indicator
- Yes, it works great (& I use it regularly) on my vzw xv. E.g., I use SBSH's PocketWeather (don't ask, there's other thread(s) discussing the 'best' weather apps do a search). When I manually say to update weather state, it connects via 1xrtt, updates, then the 1xrtt session stays live. So, once the weather app is done updating, I simply click the top connection icon, then click disconnect.
- I assume you're running on 1xrtt. This 66xx supports both evdo & ixrtt. From what I understand (am not in an evdo area - yet), if using evdo & a call comes thru, it'll ring & you can both continue w/the evdo session & the call at the same time. If you're using 1xrtt, if you're in a 1xrtt session & a call comes in, it'll automatically go to vmail.
Other(s) could / will probably chime in here w/corrections, should that be necessary.
