Awesome!! Puts a Disconnect Button next to the Hide Button when you are connected. Simple, perfect. Worked on my Sprint PPC-6600 (with camera)

The 0x10 setting worked by putting the disconnect button and the connection counter on my PPC-6600.

However, the 0x08 setting did not appear to do anything. It did not add a disconnect button.

Marc,
I tried to do that in Resco, but it seems to not let me. Don't know how to add (duh).
When I tried to download the other reg editor, it wouldn't install. Probably conflict with Resco?

cat,

since you and i use resco,

just go to the reg location below, then hit file and the bottom and from the pull down select new/dword . then proceed with the instructions below. it works as intended...

you and i use resco, so just go to the reg entry and hit file and new dword from the pull down and then go from there....

Using phm registry editor:
click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click ControlPanel
Click Phone
[at this point, the buttom grey status bar should read \HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone'
Click the bottom menu 'edit'
Select new dword value

Change the value name to "Flags2" (no quotes).
Select the 'hexidecimal' button.
Type 10
Click ok.
You should now see in the 'name/data' section:

Flags2 16 (0x00010)

To reset, just use the tip of your stylus in the reset spot on the bottom of your pda. (typical reset.. )

Next time you come up you should see a disconnect button in your status bubble.

btf

P.S. by the way, given this key is a new key, and not a preexisting one, I wouldn't worry too much about messing something up, but you should always backup anyway...

So to get this straight, this does not work with the PPC-6601 CDMA from Sprint?

The control panel applet seems to cause problems. The registry edit works fine.

There are *NO* issues with the registry method.

There are issues with installing the control panel.

Thanks for the replies. So do I just have to make a set of reg entries for this to work, and if so, which ones? I see several in this post.

There's one reg entry, and two possible values.

For the fourth time in this thread:
Using phm registry editor:
click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click ControlPanel
Click Phone
[at this point, the buttom grey status bar should read \HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone'
Click the bottom menu 'edit'
Select new dword value

Change the value name to "Flags2" (no quotes).
Select the 'hexidecimal' button.
Type 10
Click ok.
You should now see in the 'name/data' section:

Flags2 16 (0x00010)

u tap on the icon and select flight mode.

i like trhe button so i can turn off vision when im low on battery juice. theres no other reason why *I* would shut down vision.

if you dont want to be able to close vision in 2 steps, then dont worry abuo this tweak...

I'm just amazed this function wasn't included, and that you have to hack to get it.

Heh.. an oversight for sure. Somebody, somewhere. (either in Audiovox/HTC), really liked not having the button apparently.

Ah well. It happens.

i dont think it was an oversight. they propbaly didnt want people to have that much control over the vision connection.. if someone less informed as us were to disconnect the vision and then later tried to use it and couldnt,, they would complain about the phone not working well.. when in fact they only had the data turned off. im sure there are other functions in this phone that we dont even know exist...

Seems strange. I would think Sprint would demand giving people a way to reduce traffic on the network.

This would lead me to believe dormant works really well.

BTW, it's nice to turn off if it saves power (not sure it does, although I am willing to try anything), but I seem to get calls even when I am browsing the web (3G connection). So they may have been right that it really isn't necessary to have a Disconnect button for this function.
