So... does anyone one have an uninstall solution? The cab files have seem to change toggles and leave... without indication of which toggles have been flipped.

Appears to modify the registry. I don't see and can't find out what it modified, or what the defaults were.

'Figured I'd dig around MSDN over the weekend. Right now I'd suggest full backup before installing.

Uninstalling appears to require hard reset.

I feared the most. No worries I suppose. I myself haven't found what it edits in registry. It's almost untraceable... not very good coding if you ask me.

Darth,

Was Vision Online even when you turned off the power on the 6600 before the hack?

It would stay online when I powered down before the hack. Someone else has confirmed that this hack WILL turn off Vision services if you turn off the power to the device. It's a shame since the hack is a beautiful addition to turning off Vision without toggling the entire radio stack.

Hello, and thank you for the gprs tweak!

I, and others on pdaphonehome.com have installed it on CDMA phones.
It does not work well there.

Since it cannot be uninstalled... can you tell me what registry settings =
your tweak changes?

Thank you

Wow, he actually avoided the main question... what registry settings does your tweak change?

Ah well. Thanks for the try!

Thanks,

Please keep us posted. It would be nice to have the "disconnect" button and the duration of the Vision connection in the bubble. It must just be a couple of registry tweaks.

I was able to install it and remove it. The problem I had was that it seemed to somehow mess up my sound (got a lot of breaks and clicks). After I did a hard re-set and restored from an earlier back-up, the sound was working properly again.

Thanks again,

To get just the disconnect/time online in your bubble, Tweak the following key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Phone]
"Flags2"=dword:00000000 = no button disconect in buble con.
"Flags2"=dword:00000008 = button disconect on buble con.
"Flags2"=dword:00000010 = button disconect and time con. on buble conection (hex)

I did 0x10. (Make sure you set HEX 0x10.. 16 decimal).

Warm reset.. you're good to go. (This method doesn't suffer from the shutoff/connection drops problem).

Thanks bfaber,

Sorry for the semi-nubie questions, but would it be possible for someone to give more step-by-step instructions? I am OK at editing the registry when it comes to just changing a value from 0 to 1, but this is a little more involved and I don't want to screw it up.

Also, how do you do a warm reset?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Using phm registry editor:
click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click ControlPanel
Click Phone
[at this point, the buttom grey status bar should read \HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone'
Click the bottom menu 'edit'
Select new dword value

Change the value name to "Flags2" (no quotes).
Select the 'hexidecimal' button.
Type 10
Click ok.
You should now see in the 'name/data' section:

Flags2 16 (0x00010)

To reset, just use the tip of your stylus in the reset spot on the bottom of your pda. (typical reset.. )

Next time you come up you should see a disconnect button in your status bubble.

btf

P.S. by the way, given this key is a new key, and not a preexisting one, I wouldn't worry too much about messing something up, but you should always backup anyway...

Heh.. I searched for various key registry phrases in google, and found the original xda-developers.com post on the subject.

Now, where HE figured it out, I don't know. (I'd guess inside information somewhere down the line).

Thanks bfaber! That was very clear and easy. It works great and there are no sound issues. Plus, you broke my fear of dword!

Thanks again!

I'm using Resco Registry, can't quite figure out how to do it, since it doesn't give me the option of changing the name to Flags2?

The other one listed is free.. just download it.

Its a new dword value though. No existing entry exists for it.

Can't help you beyond that unfortunately.
