I have silly question and probably someone already asked, but I'll ask it anyway. How I can change battery in my verizon 6600 without loosing all the settings? Like programmed buttons?
I always try turn this device off, but sometimes does not help. Btw this little phone love to turn itself on anyway.
How can I turn it off for good? How do I know, if it is off? When I just push "off button", the screen is off, totally black, but green light in upper right corner is still blinking, and so is blue light in left corner. How to make them stop? If I push and hold "off" button, I only turn off backlight. Any suggestions?
You can't turn "off" a PPC. You can turn off the screen, you can turn off the radios by engaging flight mode, but they device is always in "standby". That having been said, changing the battery out should only result in a soft reset; make sure your backup batteyr is charged before swapping batteries

I try again and it worked as you said. I have no idea, why it reset itself last time I try to change battery.
Since you are so smart, explain to me why I have displayed icon that says that I have one voice Message waiting, if I do not have a telephone service with Verizon? I have only data, Internet access and I cannot make and receive any voice connection. This btw does not stop Verizon from charging me from time to time for some incoming calls. However, it is never more than few dollars and they know it takes several hours to get credit for it, so I just let it go.
It was much worse when I was using the Sierra Wireless AirCard 555 for my laptop, now when I use Verizon’s vx6600 it happened only twice for a 1-minute call, but it happened and it makes me crazy. If I have $50 unlimited access service, I should pay $ 50, not fifty dollars and 25 cents.
I just check usage on my account on verizonwireless.com and again I have one minute off peak minute used. Probably it is for this voice mail message I have. Well, I guess I have to live with it, because my problems are obviously not Verizon’s.
Darn, I love being right Just relax...or STFU, but I don't see a need for an attitude...and BTW, I wouldn't mess with Ehud, he could turn your phone into a brick with Will Power.

4 days ago, I had my phone charging on the cradle, plugged into the A/C and the CPU for ActiveSync. When I went to go to bed, I took it off the cradle and I heard this noise--I ignored it, and went on to bed.
Well when I went to set my alarm, I noticed what that noise was that I heard--it was the LCD screen CRACKING. It cracked in teh lower left corner--I don't mean a small crack, a LARGE one, that has spread in 3 spider cracks across teh whole screen, which affects how the phone is used. I NEVER dropped it--I have only had it for 3 weeks.
What I figure is this: I was charging it near my air conditioner (about 2 feet from) and it was getting hot on the charger. WIth the cold air blowing on it from the back, I think it might have caused something...it is the only reason I can come up with.
Anyways, STUPID F'ING SPRINT won't replace my phone as a "defect" on the warrenty because it is "physical damage"....basically, they don't believe me and think that I dropped the phone (I went to 2 stores, one in a bad part of Detroit, one in a good part). Here is the crappy part...my insurance doesn't kick in until the 19th, and what am I supposed to do then??
Any advice as to what to do...I would like to get it replaced w/o paying the stupid deductible....
Just an update---
I **JUST** got my phone back. It took them 15 days, but I got it--and a brand new one, at that. Stupid LockLine/Sprint. I don't know why they aren't on the same page...
Anyways, to resolve the issue, I called and bitched 3 different times, saying that I DON'T have a cell phone, and that I need one RIGHT now...they gave me the usual run-around, I asked to speak to managers, blah-blah blah...then, finally one day I asked to speak to the Manager's Manager, and Sprint-person told me that I would be put on a call back list and would have a return call in 24-48 hours. Never got the call--got a brand new phone though!

I sure hope one of you experts won't mind addressing a question from a *newbie*
I just got an XV from Verizon, but haven't bought a data plan yet...I'm going to be a fairly light user for the next handful of months while I'm in grad school. My campus is WiFi'd up, and so is my house, so I've gotten the impression that I can purchase NO data plan whatsoever, and simply browse the web/email etc when I'm in a Hotspot...provided I buy an SD WiFi card.
I was going to buy one yesterday, but thought I should make sure it will do what I think it will do for me first...
Could anyone out there advise me as to whether or not it's possible to have no plan, just an SD WiFi card?
This IS my first post on here, but I've gotten tons of great info from many of you already...so thx!!
Logically, that sounds like a good plan. It would be a good idea to assure yourself of a way to keep off the cellular network. I would guess they put you on the pay-as-you-go for data, to be avoided unless you are wealthy. Through an error later corrected, I had a light month of 35100 kilobytes for which I was billed $520(US).
My use of the 6600 is very low level, so I have never had the device automatically connect to a network without my knowledge.
I'm having fair luck with the Socket card except that there's something funny with the driver load involving other low-level apps like ActiveSync or bluetooth. I've learned to deal with it, though.
Thanks crain,
The Socket card is the one I almost bought yesterday...it sounds like there are some minor annoyances, but it should do the trick for light use, huh?
Good enough for me...
Have you looked any further into what the problem is with the driver load?
How fast/reliable is it to browse?
are you using the voice option? to answer your question yes, if you buy a wifi card.

hope this is the appropriate place for this, and hopefully it hasn't been mentioned yet (i've been lurking for a couple of weeks and haven't seen it...)
This is my 4th PPC (altho my first with a phone), and the first thing that I ALWAYS do with a new PDA is pick up a screen protector at http://shop.brando.com.hk/screenprotector.php
They're pricy, but last forever (and reusable and washable!)
I love the texture (it feels more like writing on paper than writing on glass).
I know this is probably an obvious question, but I haven't been able to find it by reading the various faq and newbie threads, or by searching.
How do I install software on my PPC (Audiovox 6600)?
1) When I download the .exe installer files and run them from my desktop system, it tells me "Application Manager cannot install this application on your mobile device due to an invalid setup file. Reinstall and try again."
2) Some of the programs have CAB files available, but I can't figure out which, if any, of the ARM, MIPS, and SH3 CABS are right for my PPC.
3) Some don't have CABS. Is there any way to get one out of an install file, or to fix the setup problem?

I just spent 3 hours with customer representative from vzw discussing $2.37 charge on my bill. After talking to several people trying to tell me, that I used 2 minutes roaming with my XV6600, finally I've got someone who agreed, that it is impossible to roam with data only service for that device and gave me credit. It is, however, ridiculous, to do this almost every month.
I really miss customer service at ATT. They may have not the best offer, but they always treat customers like they were on my side.
Heh, I get the same issues with my Sprint service. Last month they charged for a replacement phone that I had dealt with over 4 MONTHS ago (I had returned the phone and all). The phone came in at a nice $150 bucks.
They also had the gall to charge me $15 bucks for sprint pcs vision, which I had delete off of my account 1 YEAR ago.
At least they credited my account, but only after I spoke with the manager.
When I was getting my 6600 the other day, I had to wait in the store for 2 HOURS to get it. Now I know why serial killers exist.
