Do Mfgs realize that a 0.3 MP camera is useless? I understand the need for a "no camera" option, but why would you add a 0.3 MP camera when 1+ MP are common on every cell phone these days. May as well not have a camera at all given that a 0.3 MP picture is unviewable and akin to a chalk rendering. I expected better from a device of this caliber.

suggestion for FAQ on signal strength
Verizon XV6600
In the Windows directory you will find a
listing for 'fieldtrial.exe' -- open it when the
phone is on, and you will see field strength
of your provider's signal and other
data instantly updated.
Others
If you cannot find fieldtrial.exe, there is a zipped
version below.
Suggestion for FAQ on turning the
phone on and off.
For Verizon XV6600
The only way to turn the phone on and off
is by pressing the icon for the signal strength
(the bars) and then selecting "Flight Mode".
This will work for on or off. If you want this to
be toggled by the Phone Off button, see: http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/s...threadid=42092
For Others
If your phone already defaults to this (END button
toggles phone) changing the data to "0" will
turn it into a toggle to Turn off an open CDMA data connection
if held down.

Carl, I added your sugestions. Your last 2 are XV6600 specific. Wanna try uploading that fieldtrial.exe so PPC6601 users can try it? I could not find it on my PPC-6601.

Sorry if this question sounds stupid. I have a Sprintpcs 6601 and I was wondering if there is a way to answer emails from my Netzero account without using my Sprint email account? In other words if I recieve a email from someone on my Netzero account I usally cut and paste thier email address in my sprint account instead of being able to just click reply from my Netzero account. The error message I recieve is "The following recipients are invalid:" Perhaps this is something I should know the answer to but I don't. I call Sprint and of course they don't know squat. So I'm hoping someone smarter then they or me can answer this.
Thanks
does anybody know when the sprint version will be open to the masses. i cant trade in my g1000 til it is and i hate not being able to use my pocket pc.
they will sell it to you. It doesn't matter if you are a business or not. I called and received mine the next morning. Also mention free activatiom and they will wive it too.
OK--I am in DESPERATE need of a new phone...so I have been heavily researching a new PDA phone. I travel about 60% of my work time, and a PDA/phone will be perfect for me. I am a *sigh* Sprint user, so that leaves it limited.
After quite a few phone calls, stops at Best Buy and Sprint stores, I have discovered these *facts*:
Sprint will be releasing the Audiovox PPC-6600 W/camera (1.0 mp, with LCD flash 480x640 res) on FEBRUARY 18th 2005. This was told to me by the PDA Product specialist when I called Sprint HQ. She said that it *DOES* have Wi-Fi, but it will be somehow disabled via Sprint--they don't want leechers using it as a modem is the motive that I have discovered.
The phone is expected to have some glitches--comes with the territory though, because it truly is the first MEGA phone/PC. The Bluetooth problem will be fixed, I was told by the product specialist.
As far as a car charger and extra battery go--FORGET ABOUT IT! I was hoping they would add these items to the box, but nope!
So my dillema is this: My "Sprint $150 rebate" isn't applicable until June, 2005 (At 18 months of loyal service, they give you a rebate for a new phone). I want this phone NOW though--so I figured this scenario out:
If I pay to "cancel" my Sprint phone service now, it will cost me $150 for "Early Termination". However, when this phone is out, I believe I will be able to get a "New Subscriber Line" discount price, just like EVERYONE does when they purchase their first phone. From what I saw for the PPC 6601, the list price was $629. However, after rebates and savings, you could get it for $349!! (This WAS on the Sprint website until yesterday, they pulled the info off on the PPC-6601). That's $280 off the list price. With my "rebate", it would be $480--a big difference. The other thing is that the PPC-6600 is going to cost $649 I believe.
Does this make sene?!?!?! I might be a little crazy...
You could get it for $349, but you'd still pay the $150 termination fee, making the total $499, a difference of <$20. Plus, you lose your phone number.
