why not wi-fi.what do companies have against it. is it expensive to include it or is sprint not likin wifi.i DO NOT wanna pay all that money to have a sd card stickin outof my device AGAIN.
This is not the thread for this discussion. It's also been beaten to death. CDMA radio is larger and uses more power. Wifi sucks battery down real fast too. It also can run at 500mb over cellular airwaves without the stupid Wifi HotSpot charges. So there is less need.

Enhanced Data for Global Evolution
-- GSM EDGE (AT&T/Cingular in most metropolitan areas) 100-130Kb
Universal Mobile Telecommunications System
-- GSM UMTS (AT&T/Cingular in San Francisco Bay area, San Diego, Seattle, Dallas, Detroit, Phoenix, maybe more) 220Kb-2MB
... and under the "Who Carries" column, would it be appropriate to include the iMate PDA2K as a specific example of an unlocked option?

I added Connecting ActiveSync over Bluetooth from scratch (with no USB PartnerShip). Which is what I think NoodeNT was asking for while on his road trip.
Doh! Well, I'm glad you posted that, anyway. Oh, and there are a few unlocked CDMA imates running around out there, too-- "i-mate PDA2K-EVDO."

But these phones don't have EDGE or UMTS.
Oh, I could mention that.
I'll add PDA2K.
Maybe you could say…
-- Unlocked GSM i-mate PDA2K (most seem to use T-Mobile) WiFi with Camera
-- Telstra CDMA i-mate PDA2K (Australia) with Camera no WiFi (available now for 1,112.462 American Dollars, ouch!)

By the way... THANKS! I do not own any of these and have been holding out for the camera version. This FAQ is a fantastic help to me (and so many others). Thank you. I have never owned a PDA or a PPC, so this is very helpful to help me wrap my mind around this beast. THANK YOU!
