I bought an HS820 tonight to see how it compared to the HBH-300 to eliminate headset issues from patch issues.
HS820 is really light.
It paired better and behaves better with Build 3500-124 Reg Hack on PPC-6601. But I have not tested it long.
However I think the HBH-300 sounds way better and the other party thinks it sounds better too.
HS820 would not Pair with H6135 Build 1400 (Factory)
HS820 would Pair with H6135 Build 3100
HS820 would Pair with LG-325
HS820 would Pair with PPC-6601 Build 3500-124

mswlogo... can you positively verify that the audio gateway feature I'm looking for it not a function of the headset? In other words, when you discover the services offered by the device at the PPC, does it only say headset? And can you also verify no audio (like from WMP) plays thru the HBH-300.
I ask because that is the headset I was using before, and that worked with my Dell. I have since sold it and am unable to test myself. Its a nagging question that has been running thru my head.
I did notice while patching my friends H6315 that it has an extra checkbox in the "Hands Free settings..." One for phone calls and one for Audio Sources (I forget the wording). But on the PPC-6601 on any patch that checkbox does not exist. After updating the H6315 with build 3100 the checkbox was still there !!! But I did not test it. I get the impression that with the factory build of H6315 the audio through headset worked. I don't know if the patch broke it or not or had any affect. I did not get a chance to test it.
I'm beginning to suspect it might be a registry setting
Ohhhhh that is exactly what I'm looking for. I apologize if my terminology is off. I was under the impression that in 2nd Ed. MS disabled that "extra check box". Rumor had it they changed the bluetooth stack entirely, and were moving toward no bluetooth support at all (leaving it to the vendor). If they just disabled it via the registry...
Basically, all I'm after is the ability to listen to talk radio / Audible.com books thru my 820. I had this working perfectly on my HBH / PPC02.
Basically, make sure BT is enabled, and the headset is on. Then, start up Windows Media and hit play. In my experience, once the devices were paired, that was all you had to do.
OK...I think I'm going to take the plunge and try this patch on my 6600 tonight and hope for the best. Couple of questions
1. If I decide I don't like this patch, will a hard reset revert me back to the original software?
2. For the sleep issues, am I applying 3100 and then 3500...or just go with with 3500 patch?

Big Calhoun, both xxplosive had success first applying the 3100 then the 3500 right over the top of the 3100 install. When xxplosive tried to just install the 3500 after a hard reset, he had bigtime errors. So, if I'm you I install 3100 first, then 3500 over the top of 3100.
Got it...thanks for the insight...gonna give it a shot tonight. I have to reinstall my .CAB installer to the device. If this fixes the BT issue, the 6600 will be GOLDEN...for me anyway.

Okay day 2 of using the latest patch. My headset doesnt seem to connect to the phone in time when a call comes through while the phone is in sleep mode, and i end up having to take the call from the phone itself and then transfer it to the headset. This is really bugging the hell out of me! I hope audiovox or verizon is front burnering this issue.
Im using the HS820. The 3100 patch didnt seem to fix the issue for me. I can just stay with the 3500 patch for now until another fix comes out. I'd like to hear from others who are able to fix the sleep issue with their XV6600.
Ok now I'm confused. Mine works perfectly. I turned off BT overnight, and turned off the headset. This morning I turned everything back on and it worked flawlessly right out of the gate. I've been using it on and off all day today without issue. I guess the only thing left for me to try is to leave BT on all night and see how we do tomorrow.
Does your blue light flash continually? I'm wondering if my XV is not going into a complete sleep and therefore BT never actually goes away...
Well this is what ive done to test the sleep issue:
1. Turn on BT on phone, turn on headset and make sure phone recognizes headset.
2. Turn off phone via power button on top.
3. Make call to cell phone from house phone.
From here, the phone comes back on and starts ringing, but i dont hear the incoming call sound from the headset. I usually have to take the call on the phone itself and then transfer it over to the headset. When looking at the status bar when the phone is ringing, i see the headset icon but there is a question mark on it...not sure what thats supposed to mean.
A couple other things to note...
-After turning on BT on the phone and turning on the headset, it takes quite some time (about 15sec) for the phone to actually connect to the headset. Sometimes i even have to go into the Bluetooth manager and connect the phone manually.
-In response to Williams' question...the bluetooth light does bink consistently, even when the phone is off.
This is really bugging me. I was able to take a call from the headset with the phone turned off last night without a glitch. :sigh: technology can be a pain in the ass sometimes...
