to make sure active sync was not the problem. i uninstall and do the following.
1. copy winmodem to sd card and launch wmodem
2. select usb as connection type and click on start.
3. connect the usb cable to my laptop and the other ned to the xv6600
4. laptop found new hardware and i select that inf file and install cdma1x usb modem.
5. launch dialer and enter username as myphone#@vzw3g.com and password as vzw.
6. click dial and get error " remote access error 633"
I repeat the same procedure on my old desktop and it work. Desktop have xp media center and laptop have xp pro +sp2. My laptop have dual boot and i boot up using windows 2003, still same problem. Now the only one thing i can think of is my laptop have usb 2.0 while my desktop have usb 1.0.
I slavishly followed the directions, and I post to you from a XV6600-driven PC.
I think the difference was either that DisconnectActivesync program or turning off EVDO by turning FlightMode on then off.
My phone does not turn off EVDO no matter how long I hold EndCall. So, I manually turned on FlightMode then manually turned it off before installing the drivers. Also, I took plugged the USB cable into the computer directly rather than through the hub.
Please read these threads. I found these via the FAQ on the top of the 660x series forum here. Please be sure to read all the FAQ's, and use the search button. This site has some very helpful users and some users who will harass you mercilessly for not searching. I'd like to think I'm one of the nicer ones. :p

If you have bluetooth in your laptop I find it easier to connect with that. If you do not have it built in you can buy an external USB adapter or a PCMCIA card that will add bluetooth without protruding as much as the USB adapter. This is what I did and the bluetooth DUN connection is fast, easy to establish and reliable. All without wires.
Bryan, maybe you can answer a question for me. If I dont buy a data plan can I still setup a XV6600 to dial a dialup based ISP? I know it would be slow but...

I am able to get the 6600 to work as a modem but when I am finished. how do i enable active sync again with out rebooting the PC? I also have to do a so a soft reset to be able to get text messages again.
xv6600-wmodem-Powerbook.... BlueTooth!
Working fine now, I find it stays on EVDO and stays connected longer if I "Hide" Wmodem...
Also, I have to soft reset the XV6600 after before I can connect and surf with Thunderhawk.
In all im very happy, I can use Aquisitions to download mp3's for two hours straight with no problem!
Now I wish someone wold come up with USB drivers so I can speed things up a bit!
I got my Powerbook to dial out via bluetooth. But I had to uncheck "Authentication required".
I know it's a security risk, but I turn off bluetooth when I am not dialing out to #777.
I can't seem to get this to work. I see WModem start to work (connection & send) but no hookup, keep getting "Remote Access error 721". Anybody know what this means?
I also can't disconnet EN (but it seems to still work???)
Is the user "phonenumber@vzw3g.com" just like this, or is the "phonenumber" actually your own 7-diget number?
Thanks
