Does this work with Sprint

Does this set up work with Sprint? If so, what is the username and password?

Regarding the 230.4 kbps speed limit -- I've found that after I go through the initial procedures (disable AS, start up Wmodem, connect the 6600 cable), if I then do the following steps, I can get a faster communication rate:

- go to Network Connections in Windows XP
- right-click the USB Wmodem connection, select Properties
- make sure the "Connect using..." box has selected the Wmodem (occasionally it will be set to the computer's own modem)
- click "Configure..."
- set "Maximum Speed (bps)" to 460800 or 921600, click Ok twice to get back to the Network Connections screen
- on the Network Connections screen, double-click the USB Wmodem to make the connection.

Mind you, it doesn't get 921600 bps, of course -- but it does appear to reliably get 400-500k or more on Internet speed tests.

So I got all the way through the instructions on Ehud’s site in connection with using my xv6600 as a modem for my laptop and when I clicked “dial” on the dialer (i.e., the dialog box where I entered my phonenumber@vzw3g.com, password, etc.) the top of the dialog box had a message that it was trying to connect but never did. I used “print screen” to capture an image of the message and dialog box but apparently forgot to transfer it to my PDA to bring to work so I could provide the details.

Not sure if any of this is pertinent to my problem, but here’s some additional info:
1. The laptop is a Dell e1705 with Win XP Pro SP2
2. I was using the USB cradle to connect to the laptop. I have the appropriate cord if for some reason the cradle is presenting an issue.
3. I tried connecting via Bluetooth but couldn’t get the devices to pair or recognize one another.
4. The squares in the wmodem application marked "send data" and "receive data" lit up briefly during the process, but that's all. Yes, I selected USB for "connection type "
5. Wmodem is installed on SD card.

Not sure what else to add.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best,
MA

You don't have to enter anythin in the username/password field - it's overridden by the phone.

i've installed Wmodem in Storage - so puttig it on a card shouldn't matter.

BT connection shouldn't require wmodem - the inbuilt stack works fine as a DUN server.

help using modem

ok, i had my xv6600 working as a usb modem and it was great. at my house we can't get high speed, so even a 1x cdma connection is faster than dial-up. it worked perfectly for the first week, and was wonderful, however after installing the latest firmware patch, it times out alot and just generally runs slower. however, when i use it on my parents computer it works like a charm. what could be the cause that it doesn't work with one computer, when it used to, but it works fine with another. i just dont get it.

Need a little help please

Hi guys...I love using my xv6600 as a modem for my laptop. But, my laptop had to go in for service, and I had to reinstall everything. The problem I am having is that my laptop is not recognizing the xv6600 on the usb device is not recognized. So, when I start the the usb modem dialer, the last box which shows the modem, is still greyed out. Anyone have a clue how to fix this? thanks, Randy

have you reinstalled activesync? i know it seems easier to just not, but activesync has the drivers for the cradle, without those drivers it wont even see anything plugged in. hope this helps

Thanks, but I tried everything. It seems like my xv6600 is not acting like a modem for some reason. I put the two files in the pda. The driver file into my documents, and the wmodem portion into the temp file. I start up the USB modem, plug it in, and start the file on my laptop, but the modem is not redcognized. Anyone run into this..thanks.

Help, I'm stuck.

I get a box with an exclamation that says "Mmodem is not regestered to network!"

...after I hit the start button on wmodem.
