anyone find a way to make the connection actually go faster? i found the way to use the built in windows dialer and change the speed to 916kbps but it seems just as slow if not maybe a little faster.
dslreports.com/mspeed test on my pc's ie gave me 100-120 kbps when using the dialer included on ehud's site and the same test when using the windows dialer gives me an error when i run it.
I am wondering if the tethered kbps is capped @ 1xRTT speeds. in my betwork connections, under dialup, it says that its a 1x cdma modem. i bet if we could find a way to get an ev-do driver we would get the same speed as we do on the phone. anyone know?

How did you makes this work?
I have a program called "CoPilot Live Pocket PC 5", I'm using bluetooth connection with GPS receiver. U can order it directly from www.alk.com $349 with GPS Bluetooth receiver, $249 without. However if you have another navigation system program, not older than 2 years, you can exchange it for big discount. I actually installed DeLorme Street Atlas Earthmate on my laptop, sent them only data discs, keeping receiver and I was able to purchase CoPilot for only $249 with a GPS reciever. Since I paid for DeLorme $129, or so, after the whole deal for $380 I've got 2 programs and two recievers.
PS. I use 1 GB memory card to store data. This card is big enough to hold all streets in the whole US of A.

I also have had intermitent success with the USB cable. But it still beats an Air Card and another data plan. VZ will allow you to use your phone number but each time you call them to switch it between the phone and aircard they charge you $15.
So, if I contact VZ and tell them, that I want to use my old aircard, they let me do it? And my service will stay at $50? After that initial $15 fee? How long I can keep it? For me it is a better option, since I basically use xv6600 only as a modem.
What am i doing wrong, ive got my 6600 conected via the usb cable and am getting great speeds. i can send /receive email, yahoo, vpn to a real time data program and use ie to reach https web sites. I cannot reach any normal sites such as this forum or fidelity etc.
I am trying to use my vx6600 as the modem for my pc, dun. i can get my pc to dial the 6600 using wmodem, connect and do all the functions mentioned above.
however ie will not load any pages that are not https.
i know its a lot to ask but would someone mind giving it a try. just wondering if vzw has changed something.
I suspect you've got a configuration problem on your pc. Make sure that "proxy" is disabled.
Also try using a real browser, like Mozilla. It doesn't have the stupid "security zones" or other random settings which prevent normal operation and yet allow worms and viruses to run amock.
Ehud
(p.s. No, vzw hasn't changed anything that affects this.)
Well Im still having a go with this... I can use my browser with all my other connections, docked, wireless, either cable modem or dsl. I cannot get the dial up via my vx6600 to normal web pages.
Checked the proxy as you suggested and is disabled. Any other thoughts?
Ok, after reading all 11 pages in this forum so as not to ask a question that was already answered.... I only found one answer to my question and it did not seem to do the trick
I have an older 600mghz laptop running 98
I have installed all the drivers, active sync disables on my laptop. Wmodem is installed on my ppc
The problem is that when I start the dialer on the laptop the selection box for the modem says "no usb modem" and it is grayed out so that I can not select anythign. It seems that the laptop is not seeing the USB dialer.
I did install the drivers when I pluged in the usb cord from the cradle to the laptop, and I have followed all other directions on here.
There was a referance made that the laptop wont see the USB modem if I have a internet connection present. So I pulled the network card out of the pmmcia slot and rebooted the puter and tried again. No luck, it still doesnt see the USB modem.
hey i followed the instruction on going to clubimate to get updated drivers, i don't want to purchase their products just to get the drivers, is there another site i can download the updated drivers from??
where i don't have to download the updated drivers having to purchase something.
When I went to intall the IR2COMM2k.de driver I first was given a choice as to what version I wanted to install (e.g., 1.21, 2.0 which is a beta3). Can anyone tell me which version I should install to be safe and effective?
I tried 2.0 and got the message below. Can someone tell me what they think I should do: abort, retry, ignore or something else? I just want to make sure I don't shoot a whole in my foot.
Installation Messgage:
There seems to be no IrDA support on this system. (error code 0x0000273F). IrCOMM2k provides an alternative IRDA protocol, but it depends on the standard Windows adapter drivers.
Please first install an IRDA adapter before you continue with setup.
