Some problems could be the hardware in the phone itself!!
My first PPC-6600 would pair with my Lexus RX330 each and every time without fail.
I had a second one that was slow to make the initial pairing and would drop it each and every time it went to sleep (other people have reported this type of problem)
I flashed both of them with the 6600 updated ROM and tested them with no other software installed.
The one that worked still worked without fail.
The one that had problems still had the same problems.
Exchanged it for a new one and it too has worked without fail.
If you are having the sleep-disconnect problem, I might suggest you try getting a new unit.
Interesting comments. I have not found a workaround to the sleep problem. The Bluetooth radio turns off completely when the phone goes into deep sleep mode/turns off.
When I am driving I keep the phone plugged in, (PPC 6601), plugged in and never lose connection. If someone that is using a HBH-300 has overcome this problem by exchanging the phone...please let me know.
This is most likely a newbie question since I haven't found the answer on any other forum (though there is a brief mention of it on this site's "Roms and Patches" threads.
I have a Sprint 6601 and I am using an Epox BT-HS02 with no significant problems regarding phone calls.
Is there a way for me to listen to the music from windows media player in this or any other bluetooth headset?
BTnewbie,
The problem is that they havnt invented a way to send two bluetooth signals to most headsets creating two channals of sound, stereo. The reception is poor for cutting edge technology as mentioned in the previous response.
You don't need 2 channels to send stereo. It's digital info and you can pack Left and Right in that one channel. And stereo does exist. It's a different profile and different headsets.
I posted previously about trying to listen to music through a bluetooth headset. I got some help here and elsewhere and thought I would post my results for anyone interested in doing the same.
I have a Sprint 6601 and I am using an Epox BT-HS02 to answer calls.
After doing a soft-reset, there were some new options in my Bluetooth manager, including "High Quality Audio Setup". I paired the iPaq headphones with my phone and all of the audio on the 6601 came through to my iPaq headphones. Note: the headphones also beeped once every 20 seconds if there was no audio coming through. Also, the volume and track advance buttons did work on the iPaq headphones (using Media Player) which was nice.
When a call comes through, the phone will not vibrate or ring. The only clue that you get that you have a call is that the audio in Media Player pauses.
When I have my Epox BT-HS02 paired and the phone rings, the Epox will beep, allowing me to exchange the iPaq for the Epox, which is somewhat inconvenient, but workable.
I'm wondering if anyone has got the Bluetake i-Phono http://www.bluetake.com/products/BT420EX.htm working with the 6600/1 (without the audio dongle) or if there is any known device that allows you to switch between device audio and calls without having to exchange headsets.
I have the jabra BT250 w/the xv6600. It will not stay paired for some reason, although phone indicates that it is paired. When I receive a call, it takes about 10 to 15 seconds for BT250 to find phone and it start working. The earpeice works great at 2 to 3 feet away. After that, it is static city. Any suggestions or earpeices anyone using w/the xv6600 that works good and consistent. I have already tried the HS820 which worked great, but volume too low.

I got a logitech mobile pro headset headset and I love it. It answers calls from the headset in 1 ring and I lie the way it fits on the ear. This one is a keeper for me.
Hey Pockets, how is the sound quality and volume on the ear peice? Are You using the xv6600? Does it stay paired throughout day? Thanks for Your reply. In response to your logitech mobile pro headset.

It has volume control on the headset so you do that part manually. People that I talk to can't tell the difference between it and me talking directly from the phone. To me the sound quality is better then the Jabra BT800 but I think that is because of how badly that headset fits on the ear. As far a pairing took 2 times to get paired orginally but it does stay paired during the day. If for some reason I get the headset too far away or they do become unpaired I just turn off bluetooth and then turn it back on and they pair up again. The only other way is a soft reboot.
Pockets, a good headset should not require you to toggle bluetooth to re-pair everytime it goes out of range. That would drive most people crazy over time.
P.S. Try making a call after it's been out of range (even though the headset Icon may be missing or have a question mark) it may rescan for it automatically. When my HBH-300 has been out of range for a while it will re-pair on it's own within 1-ring.
I appreciate the comment but with the success we have all had with the bluetooth stack on these systems I am being realistic. It rarely do not re-pair but I don't want to hand out false hope. This headset has been great, the DSP in it works good on noise, I love the way it attaches. I would tell anyone to try it.
If yours never has any pairing issues or trouble resyncing then you are the first I have heard that from.
Check out the sticky Poll. There are a few headsets with consistently good results. I never have to do anything to use the headset except make a call or receive one. Most all the headsets will re-pair on their own (every time). The only difference for the most part is how quickly they do it. Even when I turn the headset off, if I turn it on it will repair immediately if in range. If I turn it on out of range and then bring it in range it will repair on the first call in or out. You should not have to toggle bluetooth, it should on it's own, every time. Mine does and I believe it does for a bunch of other folks as well.
I just bought a HS820 and did the ROM upgrade successfully, but my 6600 still does NOT recognize the headset when i go through the wizard. Am I missing something here?? Can someone just outline a few things to check for me? I followed the instructions from Motorola, which are to just turn the darn thing on.
For the HS820, hold down the Multi Function Button for up to 30 seconds until the light on the headset stays solid blue. (It is a lot longer than the 10 seconds the manual says for sure)
After you do that then go through the bluetooth wizard again
