I recently installed the upgraded software on my XV6600 yet the handsfree system in my Acura TL continues to malfunction. I wrote an e-amil to Audiovox and received this reply:
"The upgrade on the Audiovox web site does not address the Bluetooth problem in the automobile systems. It only solves problems in a BT headset."
I just tried that, ran down to the parking garge to see if it works and it looks like it just might be the answer. I'd like to try it or a few days before I give it a "ringing" endorsement.
I also installed the 3900 patch on top of the Audiovox ROM upgrade. The Acura HFL now works 100% for me. I no longer have the issue of having to initiate a call from the phone first and have it fail transfering the HFL system. the phone works the first time whether I call from the car, the phone or receive a call. This appears to be the proper patch for the HFL system.

MSwLogo.....I am currently looking at the HBH-300 as my first BT Headset....would you mind sharing your thoughts on it. I have the PPC-6600 with out of the box BT 3500.
Thanks for your help before I go through the trouble of ordering and possibly return routine.

Car makes successful BT connection each time I get in. No problems with sleep mode that others with the 6601 have had.
I can use the cars screen to dial numbers, the steering wheel to initate/end calls and adjust the volume with no problems.
Car does not display signal strength nor can I transfer the phone book. I spent some time playing with the contact list with no luck. WM2003 allows me to select and send a signle contact via BT, but only the first few characters transfer over. I even tried creating a contact that was only a phone number, but even it would not completely transfer over.
There must be some standardized format (other than what MS Outlook uses) that other phones use. I even though about trying to create some type of tab deliniated file to play with, but I can not find a way to send a file via BT. I'm new to the PPC and BT and don't know if I need to create a different BT profile to do this. And even if I did, would the car receive the info?
Actually, my dream method would be to activate MS voice command with the steering wheel and use it make the calls. I thinks others have stated they believe MS is working on an update to Voice Command that would allow that BT connection to activate VC. I sure hope that is true.
Someone else stated they use Sprint's $5/month voice dailing option and therefore they only need to have that single *(whatever) stored in the car. I just don't want to manage two sets of contacts.

Don't STEAL, the IRS doesn't like competition!
I have a BMW 540I with bluetooth. This feature has a voice activation feature installed in the car which works with the ppc6601. This all works good. Its when i want to download the phonebook that fails, first it has to be done manually. then it doesnt stick and the next thing you know its gone. I took it to BMW and they tried it out with one of their prefered BT phones and it worked like a charm, downloaded automatically, etc. They gave me a list of prefered phone...Motorola v600, sony ericsson t608, siemens s55/s56, nokia 6310i, sony erricsson t637, sony ericsson t616/t610, sony ericsson t68/t68i which was the one we tested with. Perhaps someone can compare BT code or we can test their code, etc.
has anyone had any luck with paring their 6600 with a mac and using it as a wireless modem? can anyone help me with that? it will not recognize it as a phone. i can use my v710 fine with it.
I picked up a BT800 this morning and am a bit disapointed with both the lack of volume and the fit. It can be worn comfortably, but only after fidgeting with it to get it in just the right spot. I did notice that the connection time seemed slow. Some calls initiated from the phone never connect to the headset, even though bluetooth manager says that it is paired.
Too bad, the caller id feature is cool, and the callback from the recieved call list seems to work well. I'll return it tomorrow....

I have had my BT800 for a week and I am sending it back. 6 seconds to answer a call to the headset, if it pickes it up at all. When you see the call connected you can count to 5 before you hear a beep in your ear and can talk. It also losing its pairing. I dont know if that is the phone or the headset. I have the ROM update on my 6601 so I have 3500 BT stack. It does sit funny on the ear and I feel like it is going to fall off.
I like "in the ear" headsets instead of these on the ears. Are any of the BT headsets in the ear or are they all on. I may go back to a good sound reducing wired headset for now. Any wired headsets anyone would recommend?
I had a Scala 500 and took it back because of static and picked up a Moto HS 820. I live down the street from PCMall, the store, so it has been easy to return things. I decided to hard reset because I have it down to a science at this point. It defauted back to the Audiovox updated ROM version with the BT3500 stack and the HS820 DID NOT WORK.
Under the outgoing connections tab in the BT manger, the signal was going from full 5 green bars to one red bar every few sconds. I installed the BT3900 patch and it sounds great. I have maintained full signal through walls about 10 feet away.
I hope this story has value for some out there, cause this whole BT thing is getting old and my "wired" jabra is looking pretty good these days.
No, with BT 3900 the connection signal strength (green bar) remains constant with no flickers between that and the single red bar. I just woke up and left the headset and the phone paired all night and they are still paired.
The memory error is a one time thing as long as you leave BT on it works fine. My guess is that another patch will be available soon for CDMA phones that will stop that as well.
The signal with the Moto headset is very stong and maintains its integtrity in places that the Scala DID NOT. The guy at PCMall told me that the Moto quality is among the best and that I should have better luck with the HS820
Just to report in this thread issues with the PPC6600 and bluetooth headsets. With the stock bluetooth, as well as the Audiovox upgrade it takes 4 rings for the bluetooth headset to connect to the phone when waking up from sleep, causing lots of missed calls.
Upgrading to the 3500C or the 3900b shortens this to the 3rd ring.
With my old PPC6601 when waking up from sleep the bluetooth headset would connect within the first ring.
