I have done three headsets so far without much success.
The first was Jabra 250 from Verizon - truly sucky and it went back almost immediately.
The next was the Logitech Mobile Freedom - excellent headset other than the volume was too low (I have normal hearing loss with age (almost 50 egad) but nothing terrible)
Got the plantronics 640 discovery - volume is great, maybe even too loud, static is terrible.
Thinking of trying next either the plantronics 510 (like in the ear for volume effects) or the Scala-500 (but i'm afraid that the volume may be too low) .. any thoughts?

yadda yadda yadda ... oh you heard that one before? Well, Exuuuusssee MEEE! Oh, you heard that one before? .... Well. could it be SATAN??? ... Oh, you heard that one before? ..... Then you need to get a life as badly as I do.
The Scala-500 gets Too Loud at times for me and I rush to turn it down as my eardrum bleeds lol. Volume is not an issue w/ the scala-500.

I've tried four different headsets now the first one Plantronics BT320 kept missing calls. The second one Jabra JBT150 hurt my ears after five minutes. The third one (I have no idea which one it was) I tried on in my car before leaving store and couldn't get it to stay on my ear.
Current headset Jabra JBT350v. Pairs easily and stays paired. Volume and clarity very good. Stays on my little bitty ear with out hurting (ear hook is adjustable and yes I occasional have to readjust it).

Hi, I've heard that there is a patch that upgrades the XV6600's bluetooth version from 1.0 to a higher bluetooth version. If so, can someone direct me to that patch? link?
I recently purchased one of the Motorola HT-820 bluetooth headsets. It’s one of them thar "Your-a-Pee'in" models (the power connector on the charger unit is a dead give-a-way). Anyway, the unit charges just find via a 5 pin USB connector hooked to my home computer.
Sometimes it has problems paring up when I first turn it on, but once paired it works wonderfully. Some have reported having to manually re-connect the high quality stereo connection after completing a phone call using the hands free wireless connection. I also experienced this problem (notice the past tense). But I found that the high quality audio profile “doesn’t like” to have power turned off while it is active. Since the phone is separate from the PDA, the PDA can be set to go off after “so many” minutes of inactivity (I kept mine set to 3 minutes) to save on batteries.
I found that if I disable this so that the PDA never goes off (unless I turn it off manually) that I can press the pause button (on right earpiece) after hanging up from a call (received or originated), and the music starts right back up EVERY TIME. When I am done, I simply turn off the headset allowing the bluetooth profiles to disconnect and terminate properly B4 I turn off the PDA.
You can disable the power off function in Start->Settings->System Tab->Power->Advanced Tab->On Battery Power Radio Button/Drop down menu.
This really is a testament to make sure you do your research before you go buying accessories for your phone,
but I recently bought a bluetooth keyboard, (freedom keyboard) for my xv6600, which claims that it is compatible...but i havent been able to get it to work at all. i downloaded the cab file at www.frekey.com, but it wont load on my phone. Has anybody figured out how to make this keyboard work on their phone??
The .cab file has a .xml file in it that seems to be causing problems, any ideas???
I have the Stowaway Universal Bluetooth Keyboard that works with my 6600 from Verizon. It did not work with the software in the box, but I downloaded the lastest software from

How did you get the high quality audio to synch with your PDA? My phone synchs fine, I just choose new Hands-free/Headset Setup and it finds and uses the phone. But I cannot figure out how to pair the headphones. The headphones do not export anything on the Explore a Bluetooth device.
I am using 3500 bluetooth version. Should I install 3900? Thanks
Dont know if this makes any sense but here goes. I installed 3900B last night, and got the memory error. So I fiddled with the on/off scenario but was frustrated that I even had to do that. So, I then decide to reinstall the Broadcom patch for the heck of it and low and behold it it worked. I could turn the BT on and off w/o a hitch.
I searched serveral threads and did not find any similar posts at least in the order or way these patches and updates are installed.
As of this AM I am using a M-HS820 with improved quality and reception. I also bid on a Plantronics-510 last night via ebay, won it and will post as soon as I put it to the test.
I would not use the BT3900 file. I haven't seen it work will the 6600s. There's a really neat .cab file from Broadcom which works great. All it does is add a High Quality Audio Profile and a Keyboard Profile to your device. You then use that profile to pair with your bluetooth stereo headst. I have the Bluetake I-phono 450rx. The sound is great but you have to stay close. The 450rx has capabilities beyond the High Quality Audio (A2DP Proflies) such as remote control of the PDA. However, neither Broadcom or MS have created a AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile) for any of the PDAs. It is supposedly coming soon.
I don't remember where on xda-developers.com I found this .cab file. But it's still on my harddrive. I could email it to you. My email is zdf@robarm.com All you do is copy the .cab file onto the pda and then tap on it to execute it.
Have "Body Glove" Fellowes... works fine on fone and GPS.. JECK
Wow you are the 1st person to say the body glove works fine... it's a piece of junk and has been proven to be a piece of junk many many many times over.

Just received it this AM, have been using it for the last 3 hours, so far no issues. Good Clarity both incoming and outgoing. Been using it in my office, will test in car and outdoors later today.
Had to HR this weekend so I am on the 3500C Build as we speak. Have not upgraded to the 3900B yet , may leave well enough alone if this device workss out with current build.

Something got garbled here: I meant to say the body glove does the fone bit good.. thats it ..Now i want a blutooth gadget that does the fone and audio bit for the sprint ppc6600,, The info i see so far seems ambiguous.. I understand that i need A2DP profile but ,how do i know if i have it. I presume the "glove ' is not compatible with A2DP or the PPC 6600 does not have it,. Can someone tell me what I need to listen to music by blutooth on th sprint ppc6600 with win mobile 2003 2nd edition.. ver 4.21.1088 build 14132.. Is the blutooth in rom or is it in the installed software.. If in rom and not A2DP can software be added to make the thing A2DP compatible..??
There are other brands of 6600 fones and some of the posts are not clear that it is the Audiovox device that is the subject of the discussion..
I came in the door late.. so that is no doubt the reason for my confusion..
This confusion was enhanced by the Fellowes guys saying it can't be done with no explanation and the geek in the sprint store saying there ain't no way.. You guys providing positive poop encourages me ,but , being willing to order but unwilling to fail ,drives me to seek some clarification...
Thanks for helping a newbie... John

You can find the A2DP cab file here - http://www.myehud.com/xv6600/cabs/ - it's the one that starts with PDA2K. Just download it and install it on your phone. It adds profiles for stereo headsets and for BT keyboards and mice.

All of the 6600's are pretty much the same and they are all made by Audiovox (not really, but that's another discussion). - sheureka
Downloaded the suggested cab and will install.. Will the itec device offered on ebay serve my purpose?.. i prefer a low profile device .. ear buds work in my ears Ok and i don't expect i will use them for extended periods and prefer to maintain a nongeek appearance.. Strange how much more useful info is available from users rather than the experts whose job it is to sell the products.. TNX again ,,,...John

I ordered these - http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/globalsat-bth820.php - and should get them tomorrow. They're really nongeeky (I'm going to use them with some earbuds I already have) and run about $85 for the whole system or $45 for the headset by itself. With the whole system I should be able to not only listen in stereo on my 6600, but also connect them to my iPod or XM AirWare and when a call comes in answer it and the music (or book) will start again when I hang up. GlobalSat makes some of the best BT GPS receivers out there and this setup has gotten excellent reviews so I'm looking forward to trying it out. So far I think it's only available at semsons.com and buygpsnow.com. - sheureka
