well, i finally got the download but it looks like my device is running it already. Bummers. I was so hoping this was going to solve my bluetooth issue. I noticed some talking about a 3900 Bluetooth driver/version. I noticed that it looks like i'm running 3500. Any idea where I can get the 3900?

Has anyone used the i-Tech Clip IIs with a PPC-6600 before? Does it even work with the PPC-6600? Can you actually hear your music and movies and stuff with it?

How big is it? I'm guessing it's a little box, with a built in mic, with a headphone jack. So you plug in the headphones to be able to hear your calls (and movies and stuff) and you use the built in mic for talking on the phone. Is this correct?

Does anyone know of another Bluetooth headset that will let you talk on the phone and listen to movies, music, etc? it doesn't have to be stereo. It can be a single ear clip, as long as it allows you to hear movies, music, system sounds, etc.

Any info on it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all, I have had pretty bad exp with bluetooth headsets on my vx6600. too much interferance. Ive tried moto headsets (HS820) and Jabra (bt 250v) and they both sucked, I have also tried the 3900 stack for the bluetooth. I currently have the stack that comes with upgrading to the 2.04 ROM (3500 with the extra component) Which alot on here say is the most stable for them. I have since given up on a bt headset. <sigh>

I've given up on them too - and gone back to the headset that came with the phone (I even ordered an extra one from Verizon for $10). BT is great for GPS, mouse and keyboard - but not for a headset. - sheureka

Here's the thread - http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/s...threadid=41561 - and check out gpspassion.com. My personal choice is the GlobalSat BT-338 with iGuidance software. - sheureka

That's hilarious Sheureka...I too, have done the same thing. In fact, when my LCD screen cracked from charging 4 months ago, Sprint sent me a new phone as a replacement...with the headset, charger and everything else in the box. I was SUPPOSED to mail back everything I already had, but I kept the extra headset and stylus'.

I still like the original headset the best...BT sucks.

Hi, folks.

I’ve been looming on this board for a few weeks and want to say thanks for all the great info you’ve all posted here. You’ve saved me a lot of time and money, so I wanted to give back in some small way by briefly sharing my own 6600 Bluetooth experiences with the slight chance that this might be of some help to others:

GPS – The iTtrek M3 with iGuidance combo works phenomenally well. For those who have never used this technology before, you will probably find it an omigod experience as I did, and its usefulness will justify the slaking of your techno-lust. You can even send the GPS lady’s voice through your car stereo to make sure you hear every syllable of her bitching at you for missing your turn.

6600 as a BT modem – Works great. Usually a little over 300kbs (Verizon.) Not as fast as a genuine broadband connection but much better than 56K dial-up. (And my USB modem experience with the 6600 is about the same.) I really haven’t needed this feature yet, but it’s phucking cool, so that’s reason enough to do it right there. I can see where it would be very useful for people who are on the go with laptops all the time.

Stereo headset for music (or talking books etc.) – The HP Ipaq headset is working very well. Range is fine. Sound quality is good enough but not spectacular. Scratchiness and fading are rarely a problem. … (“Earbuds” don’t do it for me because, well, in my humble opinion, they’re stupid. We used to have to jam things just like that into our ears when we were kids because that’s all that had been invented then. ... Earbuds fall out. They get tangled in knots when you store them. After you untangle them and scrape off last month’s earwax and jam them back into your ears, they fall out again. They bite. That’s just my experience. If you like ‘em, cool. … And I don’t understand the appeal of the “wireless” headsets that have WIRES that go into some clippie-deal thing that apparently attaches somewhere on your body. </rant> ...

Phone-call headset -- Logitech Freedom seems to work OK, although I haven’t needed to use it much. It does seem to have interference issues from my home Wi-Fi network and /or cordless home phone, but when I’m home I use my home phone. Headest somewhat Borgish, but I’ve seen worse. I think that if I did use my 6600 for phone calls more often, though, I would use a hard-wired, two-ear headset with a long boom mike (”mic”) For one thing, I still don’t trust Bluetooth sound quality for important phone calls. For another, the full, wired headset makes it more obvious that you’re talking on a phone so people don’t think you’re some kind of freakin’ nut job talking to yourself with a flashing corkscrew shoved into the side of your head.

Anyway, these gadgets and things were all recommended by others here, and they work really cool for me, and I appreciate what y’all have done. If any other newbies out there want to learn more about these things, please remember that you can probably find out what you need to know by searching this forum. Either that or just call the 24-hour customer-service line and ask for Ehud. (The phone number is etched inside your 6600 on the underside of the backup battery.)

That's a joke, son. Do not open your phone. Do not open your phone. You could ruin it. And it's all full of boogers in there anyway.

I've tried four different BT headsets with my XV6600 (Verizon) - they all paired easy, no problems. Here is my experience with each, ranked from best to worst:

Plantronics Voyager 510: So far, my favorite. Volume is great, no static, even 20-30 feet away (it will start to cut out around 30 ft). Redial option is handy, no need to pull out the phone. Fits well in ear, a little bulky behind the ear, but not uncomfortable. Battery life is good, can go for a couple days without recharging - but I don't talk alot.

Jabra BT250v: Works well. Vibrating alert feature is nice. Volume is good, probably because of the little gel piece that sticks in your ear. No static, works great up to 30 ft away. A little bulky, but you get use to it.

Sony HBH-662: Has 7 digit caller ID on headset, which is nice. Could not get the bluetooth dialing to work with Voicedialer, but headset immediately starts up once the call is made. Gets a little static when more than 3 feet away. Volume is okay at best - difficult to hear in noisy enviroments. Headset doesn't fit real well on your ear - kinda flops around a bit.

Motorola 850: Terrible! Volume is too low. Called tech support using the headset and I could not hear them! Finally understood that Motorola does not support the XV6600.

That's my 2 cents - hope it helps!

So now that people have got the 6700 to voice dial over Bluetooth, has anyone tried it on the 6600?

I'm not exactly sure what they did to the 6700 to make the voice dial work (I don't have one to try it out), but I wonder if the same technique will work on the 6600?
