Cases for 660x...

I've been looking at some of the cases I've seen from various forums.

I'm looking for a case that would actually protect it should the unit drop, give you easy access to the PDA (no zippers), not significantly increase the size of the unit, and last not inhibit reception.

Thanks

I really like the EB Case line, and they will have one shortly for this device... which we will carry in our site store.

I will caution you, however, that no case is really going to protect this device from damage during a fall... at least none like you are describing. The amount of glass in the display is simply too large to handle most falls. I had an earlier version of the same device and had the display break during a fall, in a case. The case will protect the outer shell from bumps and damage from routine handling. I would also highly recommend a screen protector. I like WriteShields. Boxwave also makes a good screen protector.

The EB Case for the XDAIII/PPC660x is supposed to start shipping on Nov 15th according to the EB website.

On another note, I tried a WriteShield (for my i-mate) on the PDA2K and it decreased screen sensitivity to the point of making it useless. So my screen is defenseless at the moment....

That is very surprising John... I would shoot an email to Leonard at PocketPCTechs and tell him your experience. I have never heard of that happening.. in fact I find the touchsreens behave better with a Writeshield than without. Leonard is a big supporter of pdaPhoneHome and will help you I'm sure. Just tell him I told you to contact him... I believe his email is pocketpc at pocketpctechs.com , but i'm not positive. Let me know if you need help contacting him.

One more comment on that.... I had once installed a WriteShield that was shifted too much in one direction on the glass, and it resulted in touchscreen issues... so you may want to reinstall it and try to make sure you have it directly centered on the glass... if you think it may not have been before. If the display on that device is any smaller than normal, that may cause what I just described.

Question

Can you give us a description of the case? Is it a pouch, a holster? Is it hard or soft? Does it have a belt clip? Maybe some pictures...

Thanks for all the info - mine arrived a minute ago so as soon as I get a chance to check it out, I'll submit my humble opinion.

I strongly dislike the case that it comes with. I'm sure some people will like it but it is not for me. It holsters the phone sideways - most likely for controls or maybe they think it is too long and might dangle too much the other way.

I'm now convinced I don't want a belt case at all but a protective case that might billfold around the unit with a simple snap that I can easily put in my pocket without the bump from the belt clip.

I'm guessing they designed the case so people would have to buy a lot of phones. The snap on it may be over the touch screen depending on which direction you put the phone in. Press too hard and you are out $600

anyone have a nutshell case for their ppc?

I've got a nutshell case from www.nutshell.cc for my treo 600 that is a belt pouch (top entry) without the strap and love it. The phone lifts out really quick and easy. I'm thinking of ordering one for my 6601. anyone try one yet? The leather on my treo 600 version is very high quality...

Does anyone know if they make this model for the PPC-6601 without the hole for the camera in the back? I sent them 2 emails this week and haven't heard back anything.

We will have just what you are looking for when the stuff is available... presently our suppliers aren't ready yet. Just watch http://pdaphone.com/shop/ to find accessories and help support the forums.

Krusell Case

Has anyone ordered the Krusell case (see link below). If so, how do you like it. In the past, I've been very pleased with Krusell cases, so am thinking about ordering this one for my 6601.

This look nice but the EB one looks thinner (hard to say) and gives that warm fuzzy feeling of it being wrapped. If you use the slid out Keyboard then this looks good.

I'm concerned that this adapter thing just adds another layer of material making to thick. I still want to pocket it.

I'd be interested in this as well. To me, this is the only case that has easy access to the keyboard without having to remove the phone from the case that I've seen so far. This and the Krussell look very similar.

I'm surprised no one has even considered adding a plastic or leather flip using the 2 screws which are on either side of the unit. If some one could manufacture this it would be awesome, just like the Clie's.

Piel Frama

Seems like most people are recommending this case. I can't find any dealers in the US with this unit in stock at a reasonable price. Please PM me if you know of a good place, I would appreciate it.

Thanks
