Loud Ringtones & System Sounds!!!!!
In the last month I have been asked about louder ringtones. The PPC-660x is loud, just that the ringtones that came with it are not. So I have created some LOUD ringtones that should help with just about any phone or PDA that can use WMA or WAV files for ringtones. I cannot vouch for the taste of the rintones....only that they are loud.
If would like to make your own with your own favorite Ringtones, the two free programs I used are:
Here is a sampling that the files contains:
Voice ringtone telling you have Voicemail Voice ringtone telling you have Email AOL "You've Got Mail" A Bird ringtone (which great while outdoors, fishing, hiking, etc..) Mission Impossible Pirates of Caribean Disney Ride Theme Song Jack Sparrow from Pirates Movie Theme Song Loud Buzzer that will scare the bejeeves out of you if you use for an alarm. Jetsons Astroboy A Ringer Ringtone from the future. Star Wars Robot Warning, Baseball Charge Bad to the Bone Lots of others others..... I have a couple others that need to be posted by themselves that will follow this post.
EDIT: Since System Sounds cannot be a WMA file, I have posted dedicated loud system sounds in a post below with all WAV files.

Just click on the download link for the files, save them to your computer, and unzip them.

those programs you listed, does it allow you to make the volume louder when you make the ringtones, or does it just make them?

One converts it to the format you need it, i.e. wma, wav, ect....
The other one lets you play with the volume and other basic options.
I hope this helps.

Use either one of the programs in the first post to do this. Just click the links.
I haven't made any more ring tones in a while. I'll see if I can make a few this weekend and add them.

I love the ring-tones that have been posted. How do I get them from my temporary internet file to my Pocket PC!
Thank you.

This should answer both of the last two questions.
Here is how you get ringtones to your phone:
1) Click on any of the above ringtone zip files, download them, and unzip them into a folder on your harddrive.
2) Open up Win Explorer and open up the folder with the ringtones.
3) Open up ActiveSync and click Explore. Open up the Windows/Rings folder.
4) Drag and Drop the ringtones from your harddrive to to your Rings folder on your PPC.
5) Browse up one level to the Windows folder on your handheld.
6) Drag and Drop all WAV files into the Windows directory. WAV files can be used as system sounds and MUST be in the Windows directory.
7) Now goto settings and assign any of the ringtones or system sounds you have just copied over.
I hope this helps.

Thanks. But my big disconnect is that there is no "alarm" in the "event" category within "Sounds and Notificaiton"????
What am I missing here? Is there a way to add the event?
...or by some stupid chance is the "alarm" event categorized under "reminders" (if so that would be a shame becasue my loud wake up alarm would also need to be used for the more subtle reminder alarms I need when I am at work).

I personally use SPB Time for all of my alarms. It works great with extra control.

Thanks Hobbes. I am personally quite reluctant to put additional software on the PPC unless it really makes a difference. Do you think this is one that does?
Lord knows why, we can't choose "alram"" as an "event" in "sounds and notificaitons" -- that just does not make sense.
