E-TEN continues to expand their Glofiish lineup with the M800. This is kind of a marriage of the keyboard from the M600 with the specs of the X800. I wish that some of the US carriers would get involved with E-TEN as I believe it would be good for the competition level in the US market. It seems that HTC has the US market pretty well sewn up at this point.
The M800 will line up most easily with the HTC TyTN-II (or its close cousin the AT&T Tilt), although the keyboard of the M800 doesn't tilt. The M800 has a full VGA resolution display (640x480) compared to the lower resolution QVGA that almost all Windows Mobile Professional devices normally have used in the past (320x240). This is a 4x improvement in resolution, and for some applications may be an important decision point. The M800 also uses a Samsung S3C2442
Processor that is clocked at a blazing fast 500Mhz. This may be above spec for the CPU, but if they are shipping it then I'd assume it was fully tested. The one flaw in the M800 that would keep it from being the king of
Windows Mobile 6 Professional devices is the decision to stick with only 64MB or RAM, like the X800. From my experience, this is really not enough RAM to feed the
Windows Mobile 6 machine, unless you look to be very much of a RAM miser. You will definitely need an alternative to Windows Media Player which will consume most of the RAM quite quickly.
Just like the HTC
TyTN II, the Eten Glofiish M800 has duel digital cameras... a 2 megapixel autofocus on the back for picture taking, and a lower resolution one on the front for video calls. The M800 has a built-in GPS, along with 3G, WiFi, and Bluetooth. It can be purchased by special order from MobilePlanet for $749.95.
