I have tried many of the browsers that are out there for Pocket PCs, Thunderhawk, NetFront, etc. I seem to keep ending up back using Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE) a lot, because its there by default and doesn't take up any memory. With all the testing and device switching, I end up reloading my pdaPhone a lot, and so sometimes I don't get to reloading a browser program.
My biggest complaint about PIE is that you can't open multiple windows. This something I do a lot, and without this function you must keep reloading the same pages, which takes a lot of time over the air.
Reensoft has just released a product that might help my problem and yours ... if you use PIE. Essentially, they have made PIE do what Microsoft should have made it do a long time ago. I haven't had a chance to try this out yet, but he feature list looks pretty good. If you try it, let us know what you think. Here is a list of its features:
- Optimize the web contents to fit for PIE
- Open multiple PIE windows
- Fullscreen mode
- Extended context menu
- Identify PIE as IE5.5 or IE6.0
- Set default charset
- Enable/disable script and script warning
- Enable/disable ClearType
