Sprint Delays i700 Until 4Q 2003 But Will Be PPCPE 2003

Well Sprint fans, it looks like the Samsung i700 is getting pushed back by Sprint to the 4th quareter. That's the bad news. The good news is that when it does come, it will be with Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition. That would tend to imply that it may be something that Verizon might do, if Samsung is going to already be putting it together for Sprint. Of course this could all just be rumor as well, but it came from a summary of the 2003 Sprint User's Forum published at Dream Pages.

Other information that came out at the conference included news that the G1000 will be available soon. That was a report by Dale Coffing at PocketPCPassion.com that Sprint is selling G1000's to Tech Ed participants for $449. There was also a Handspring Treo 600 at the show, but pictures weren't allowed.

Stay up to date on the conference at Dream Pages.

I think this qualifies as a pity party. May I provide a symphony of accompanying music?

Seriously guys, I feel your pain. I was kind of hoping Sprint would chime in so I could use my credit at CompUSA to get one. But look at the bright side, they may be the first to get 2003 Phone Edition!

Not if Verizon and Samsunk get the ball rolling on the upgrade first. After all if they are going to release it for Sprint they darn well better offer it for Verizon too. Otherwise Verizon will be the end and Sprint (don't say it) could be the new begining.

NO Sprint Samsung i700 TELL SPRINT WHAT YOU THINK!!!!

Sprint suck! ITS TRUE Sprint aren't releasing the samsung i700 until the end of 2003!

Suzanne Lammers, Sprint, 913-762-7039 slamme01@sprintspectrum.com
told me. I for one will be dropping Sprint and going to Verizon. Why is it Verizon are always in front of Sprint with the latest technology
WHY DON'T WE ALL CALL AND EMAIL SUZANNE AND TELL HER HOW UNHAPPY THEY ARE MAKING THEIR SPRINT CUSTOMERS.

I don't care about waiting for Pocket PC 2003 I want a Samsung i700 now not next year!!! At this rate Windows Longhorn (Windows next version) will be available before sprint release the samsung i700
look at this ->

http://www.verizonwireless.com/ics/plsql/pf_compare.intro?p_hdr_id=138508591&p_section=EQUIPMENT&p_mode=PRICE&p_arg=345143&p_arg=346597

and this

http://www.verizonwireless.com/ics/plsql/equipment.phone_popup?p_mkt_code=Desert%20Mountain&p_name=Samsung%20SPH-i700

makes Sprint customers ill. Not to worry at least we might get a sprint samsung i700 for Christmas, just dont ask which year!

We have 300+ phones on our business plan..... Byeeee Sprint Hello Verizon

Does this not mean though that PPCPE2003 should fit on a 32MB ROM and therefore be available as an upgrade to those of us 'old pda' users?

Probably...

I would think that all of us i700 owners would be safe as far as a upgrade to PPC 2003 goes. I can't see Samsung changing ROM sizes anyhow in mid-production. There also hasn't been any clarification as to the actual ROM size of the device either. We might well have 64MB as Samsung claims on their site.

On my xda I can see the ROM size - it's called 'Flash size' and it appears to be standard PPCPE2002 OS functionality. Do you get anything under Start, Settings, System tab, Device Information, Hardware tab - see Flash size?
