Can you give us a little description of the tools and process you have to go thru to compile this hack?
You provide the code, we'll get the tools, and follow your instructions. Is it that difficult? I'm sure we'd all learn more about programming for the palm that way too....
Or, we can have a couple people running the process, and we'll take requests as they come in.. I could handle spending a couple hours a week on this... and.. as soon as i get my router at home, i can even host the share containg all of these hacks and such... help distribute the bandwidth and responsibility of the site...
I second that sentiment; this forum (as exampled in this thread) has the ability to really add value to the phone. It sort of reminds me of the Pronto remote control, with all of the users contributing to elevate it to almost cult status. Hopefully that will be something that happens with the I300 (I'm ever the optomist).
These are all positive comments, each from a different member:
“The Jake is going to do us all a HUGE FAVOR making this program”
“Just wanted to thank JAKE and all the contributors”
“Good luck, Jake, and thanks for being such a pioneer!”
“Give me a J!!!!!”
“A big thanks to The Jake for doing this!!”
Maybe I’m laboring under some misimpression but I thought the response to this contest was overwhelmingly positive. I know there were a couple critical comments but we had some cool submissions with most people realizing that you’re doing us a favor.
Ya know, I don't see why everyone is continually asking for the code. This is something that The Jake has done, in his spare time, on his own nickle, for the betterment of everyone. It's apparent he's spent tons of time on this, not to mention that if he does release the code, then he's gonna need to answer everyone's questions. Personally, I don't blame him for holding onto something like this.j
Whatever Jake has time to do is great, and I really do appreciate it. I don't have the abilities to do the amazing things he's done on his own, yet he's willing to share it with me. Thanks, Jake.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not angry. I do appreciate all of the positive comments. I just wish people would understand that I cannot include ALL of these skins in one hack. It would be HUGE.
I'm working on the ability to add them yourself. You'll need a few developers tools to compile them, but it should be as simple as editing a list of the bitmaps and text descriptions and then running to executables to compile... however, you'll have to give me some time. And no promises.
The good news is that I think I've got the new version of the (no user uploaded bitmaps) hack working without crashes (but then again, it usually works for me without crashes, but still crashes on other people's)
Hey Jake... Just a suggestion... Since your sort of working on the graffiti area... Is there anyway where u can create a hack to make the graffiti area disappear in certain programs all together... Just like make it dissapear with a swipe of the stylus or somthing.. u know.. anyways just a sugg... thanks for reading... Marc
Removing the grafitti area doesn't necessarily mean that an application will use the extended area.
And the few apps that do (TealDoc, for example) doesn't respond to stylus events in the grafitti area. I'm not sure why (if its TealDoc just not supporting 160x225, or if its that the i300 isn't sending events.)
Yeah, I've given up all hopes for fully utilizing the length of the screen. The absence of this feature is teetering dangerously close to false representation.
Wow, just logged in this morning and got caught up on what is going on here. Really Really Cool! I'm excited to see which one wins. Good job, all of you who submitted art...Well, there are a couple terds in there but thats just my opinion.
Originally posted by fikse It looks like we had quite a few new members register since this poll was put up, who never posted, but did vote on the poll...
To make it fair, how about throwing out the votes for members who registered after the poll started?
Just a sugestion.
