Purchased mine as soon as it was available from Verizon. Never had a problem that I didn't have on my two previous Palm handhelds. I use about 20 additional apps with no problem. Phone is better than the phone I had before.
I find it humerous that the people who first giggled at its size when they first saw it are now the same people that look over my shoulder to watch me in amazement when I flip it open and begin to use it...all while they need a pencil to dial their tiny phone and complain that they can't operate it.
Had mine about a week now and love it. My first PDA so I have a steep learning curve but am having fun. My only complaint is the holster that comes with it. I work hard (and can be clumsy at times) so it already has a couple of scratches. The optional leather case from Verizon sticks out to far because of the swivel clip. I found a case online that looks better so hopefully that will solve my problem when it gets here.

Congratulations on your purchase. I hope you get as much satisfaction and productivity from your 7135 as I have from mine. I've had mine since January 2003 (and, yes, I'm still using the original handset). I'm looking around for a replacement, but so far as I am concernced, there still is nothing better on the market.
I've had mine for over a year. I still have the original unit, I've only had one hard reset in the entire time I've had it. I use about 5 3rd party apps, and only have the occasional soft reset. Having access to the high speed Verizon 1X network without a data plan is great. It only decrements minutes from your voice plan and doesn't cost a thing. I love that I can use it to connect my laptop to the internet at much faster speeds than dialup. I just wish the battery lasted a little longer.
2 here - bought the first in June '03, bought my husband a Samsung i700 this April but sent it back to Verizon and got another 7135. Imagine having a year old phone and not being tempted by the newer stuff out there - can you say that about your computer?
This unit has allowed me to take alot more trips w/o a laptop. It's really nice to take quick one nighters and not have to deal with a computer.
Travel is easier, security check in is simpler. It just makes business less of a hassle.
i have been through like 4 of these phones! i hate it but i love it at the same time. it's like a girlfriend that is so hot and stuff but that has so many psychological issues and is crazy inside. you wanna bang her all the time cause it makes you feel so good, the sex is great, but the other stuff (inside/internally) blows! the hardware is great but the software sucks! this is how i have felt for like two years since i've been through this phone! ahhh! i am waiting for an upgrade, but i have not heard anything dammit! this phone can be so cool, especially with vindigo working on it for instance. you can dial restaurants right from the phone which is awesome especially here in NYC!!!! (vindigo.com)
But, there are so many software shutdown issues and loss of data related issue that arise from time to time. battery sucks and finally a piece just fell off my phone (the upper right piece that has the silver shiny piece attached to it that actually flips the phone (i think it's like the screw/rotator piece). so it's basically as if i'm running on just one kidney now. the left one is still there though! so my phone now has a little hole where i can actually see inside the phone in the upper part of my phone, but to be honest, it has been working better since this occurred! :o it's like seeing my girl with her right bra off all the time!!!
all in all, i really dont want to give it up. i love the ability to be able to write in the phone, whether it be my finger nail or stylus. other phones, like the treo, do not have this capability.
i am praying that kycoera upgrades this phone soon. i pray like everyday. if they did, it would become the greatest phone of all time on the face of the earth!! i am convinced of this!! just get always on pop3 type email that is like a blackberry/treo 600 and i will be in love forever.
i hope to hear from someone soon and i hope to see the kyocera 8135 in the near future!! haaaaa!!
Mines been in it's box for about a year.
I did use it for about a year. Verizon gave me a new battery and replaced the phone for me...Then I just put it in a box, never to be used again.
I just can't use a phone that looses all my contacts, when the battery goes dead.
PS. Almost every Kyocera phone I have owned, has been recalled. and the other ones were replaced every other month.
