I've noticed that www.ppcgeeks.com has been down for a few days now - anyone know what's going on? Is it gone for good now or what?
Can anyone else get to it? |

This makes no sense to me. For this reason, I think nobody has a clue what is the problem, let alone the solution. We need to start posting the key cached pages here.

Jack, that last post is accurate, if a server change was made in a rapid fashion. If you are planning a server move, there are ways to do it so that there is minimal disruption to the users. If you have to do it in an emergency (such as your host shutting you down for being too busy), then you have to move your domain name to a different IP address with no pre-planning. It does in fact take 24-48 hours for all the DNS servers around the globe to understand how to get to the new server, when it is done this way.
By the way, I'm sorry those guys are having problems and hope we gave you guys a warm friendly place here to hang out while you were homeless....  __________________

Sorry charlie, it still doesn't cut the mustard to me. Call me anal if you wish. While I'm glad I was wrong and that ppcgeeks has been up since a day or so after I posted that, I maintain that they didn't have a clue as to what was going on. Consider, if your above words were accurate, within 5 minutes of the DNS change the load would start to decrease and the old site (which should have ideally been locked) would no longer be as busy, and would serve fine all the way until 48 hours had passed and the traffic dropped completely to zero, especially since locking the threads would eliminate some of the load itself.
If my logic is flawed here I'd love to hear why.

Jack, I have no idea what happened at that site, I was simply trying to clarify that DNS propagation takes the time period that they said. Beyond that, I really don't know what happened there.
