You know, I always thought that America was the most technologicaly advanced country on Earth... Until I started working in TV/Film production and realized that we have the worst television system on the planet. Now here I was thinking the same the same with cellular communications.
Why are we, the richest, most technologicaly advanced, most consumer oriented, country stuck with second rate tv and cell phones???
(Sorry I'm bored with reading about how VZW is launching the 7135 any day now, thought I'd start something else for folks to talk, argue, flame about

Companies would much rather spit out the same stuff forever and make a nice steady profit on it than cut into their bottom line upgrading and take a risk on the "If it's better, more people will like it" bet.
Kinda funny how it works, because it's what led to the 7135 being around at all. When Qualcomm wanted to get its digital technology out there, noone wanted to upgrade, because they were doing just fine with AMPS, financially. So, they had to make their own handsets, to get the technology out there, at a big expense...been losing money on it for years. Now that CDMA is out there and kicking, they were more than happy to sell off the manufacturing and just get fat off licensing. Along came Kyocera, a 40-year old company, with an interest in it, and the rest is history.

wel, the government does not care about hollywood and more and more productions are moving north (canada) where they can get a big incentive to do the production there (16% subsidy). its a shame that the movie "chicago" was filmed in CANADA!! until the US cares more about movie/film production (which i am a part of also) expect thigns to stay the same or worse.
but it all comes down to the government.. i cant say it enough...

Yep! Politics and big money. Ask yourself why, in the 21st century, we continue to be entirely dependent on fossil fuels for fueling transportation...same conclusion.
