LB's COMDEX 2002 Updates - Day 3

WEDNESDAY - NOV 20 - con't

Now you know the show wouldn’t be complete without me finding some little toy we all just gotta have.

So here it is…

The Wrist PDA. Yes I know, it’s been done before, but this one seems cooler.

Powered by Palm OS4.1 It’s got a nice size display (160x160 @ 16 levels of grey) and includes Backlighting! The CPU is a Motorola Dragonball VZ 33 MHz. The unit only comes with 2MB of RAM and 2 MB of Flash RAM though. The company makes claim on there brochure, it will run all Palm applications, but suggest running just those designed for the smaller display and the units side rocker switch.

There are 3 models to choose from starting with the simple basic (in black) which will go for around $100, up to the more stylish model (silver tone) going for around $250 or so, and can be found at Blooming Dales, Macy’s and those types of stores.

When the PDA portion is not in use, you can choose the clock to display in either Analog or Digital format. Best of all, the stylist is hidden in the wristband. Product website: www.abacuswatches.com

Now this next product is just leaving me wondering, just what’s left to make this work center complete?
(Keep your comments clean boys)

(I didn’t bother picking up any lit on this. I felt the pictures speak for themselves)

Someone here keeps talking about stogies, so, on the way back to the hotel I couldn’t resist taking this picture for ya! Drive threw? (Just what R.J. Reynolds would love to have on every corner)

In closing, there are two more days left, however, Friday’s show times are from 10 to 2, (rather short this year) and I believe I’ve managed to cover just about every inch of convention floor there is to be walked on. So… With what little I’ll find later today, I’ll be making my final post (late this evening) and taking Friday to head back to the homestead. You see, I’ll have about a day and a half to get ready before we head out to Oregon! And yes folks, I’ll be doing a little vacation write-up while I’m up there. 50 Lush Acres, Tall Tree’s, Babbling Mc Kenzie River, Fish’n and Ahhhhh, R & R. I do swim other in other areas you know

But, Fret Not, I’ve been saving one little item for last, so definitely check back, cause it’s sure to cause a little ruffling of some feathers, and could get me band from the board, who knows?

But I wouldn’t be a true field reporter if I didn’t stir up the dirt a little now would I

Today is Thursday. It’s 1pm and I better get. This evening will be spent here, circling around whilst we stuff our faces.

Well, there was a name for people like you when I was in high school. I can't use it here cause I'd be banned for obscene language. Suffice it to say it's 2 words. The first word rhymes with "Rick" and the last word is tease!!!

I wonder what this "last item" might be. Lets see......Kyocera has merged with Audiovox and they are renaming the 7135 "Thera-2"...

Great stuff LB. I enjoyed the posts. My IT guy at my office has one of those car MP3 harddrives and really loves it. It also can be removed from the car (for cold temps, safety, etc.) and played in a docking station in the home.
I just use my 40gig Creative Nomad Jukebox Mp3 player at home and with a cassette adaptor in the car.

Thanks again, we appreciate you taking the time to keep us in the loop.

Great Coverage of Comdex!!! What about...

LB, Great posts about the convention. Feels like I am right there. Photos are terrific too. Did you see anything else concerning wearable computing? Or how about a company called Microvision? Microvision is a company that makes a headset that projects a hi resolution image directly onto your retina. (very low level light so it doesn't hurt your eye.) Gives you heads up display look and feel. There resolution is somewhere around 1024X768 hi color or even higher.
Promises to be quite impressive.

I'm going to take a guess as to what this "little item" is... could it be the Dell handheld? I don't think you've mentioned it yet

Thanks for all the info LBOCEAN!
