Which pdaphone (uk)

1. What PDA and/or mobile phone do I use today?

**K700i no pda at the moment

2. Are you locked into a mobile carrier (i.e. Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, etc.), or do you prefer a particular carrier? Do you know if one carrier has better coverage in places that you need to be?

**I'm on Orange (uk) at the moment but I'm willing to change

3. Where are you based? Do you stay in one place or travel a lot? Do you travel internationally... how much and where? Do you intend to use your pdaPhone there?

**needs to work in europe

4. Do have a preference of Palm, Pocket PC, Symbian, Smartphone OS, Blackberry, etc.?

**NO

5. Are you likely to run it the way it came out of the box, or do you intend to load a whole lot of extra applications and stuff on it? Do you know of anything now that you will need to run?

**I need to run some sort of autoroute app on it. I will explore other software when I get one.

6. How important is wireless data access, and what would you use it for (i.e. web browsing, email, remote terminal access, AOL Instant Messenger, etc.)?

** Wi-Fi would be good. Need to get on line on my network. Need email and msn if pos.

7. Will you need to view Microsoft Office documents on the pdaPhone? Will you need to edit them?

** Yes to viewing them - maybe editing as well

8. Will you need to access a corporate email system? Will you do this while in a cradle (or via a sync cable), or do you need to do this while you are out of your office?

**well would like to be able to get my mail on the move just a pop3 server though.

9. Do you do SMS messaging a lot (telephone to telephone messaging)?

**yes

10. Do you need a GPS for mapping and navigation?

**if pos but can do without as long as it can handle the autoroute software.

11. What is your size preference.. very close to the smallest cellphone, or you don’t care.. function over size?

**not that important - smaller the better though

12. How will you carry it... pocket, belt, purse, etc.?

**pocket

13. Do you prefer a particular form factor… flip-phone, candy bar, etc?

**no

14. Do you prefer a QWERTY keyboard, numeric dial-pad, or stylus?

**stylus (but willing to change)

15. Do you want to play a lot of video games on the pdaPhone? What kinds - puzzles, strategy, action adventure, etc.?

**some games would be nice but not important at all.

16. Do you want to listen to music on the pdaPhone? What kind... mp3, streamed, etc.?

**needs mp3 - mp3 ringtones if pos.

17. Do you have any other hardware you intend to use with the pdaPhone? Do you intend to use any Bluetooth devices? What types of devices?

**must have bluetooth, sync up with pc would be very usefull

18. What are your budget limits (pdaPhones range in price from below $100 for older used models to nearly $1000 for high end models without a carrier subisidy)?

**Am willing to vary quite alot on price, just need some options

***cheers for the help.

I think the XDA III / Imate PDA2K would be the best option for you, especially if you want to do navigation... big screen is nice. You'll need a navigation package with Bluetooth GPS as an add-on to do this. This device has WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPRS. It also has a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Should be able to do all you want.
