The screens on the h6315 and the HTC PPCs are the same size and the virtual keyboards and handwriting recognition apps are the same on both. There has been some speculation as to the quality of the h6315 not being as good as the HTC devices, but T-Mobile doesn't sell any same-generation HTC devices (like the i-mate PDA2k.)
Another option would be to get a bluetooth phone (like a Motorola V600) and one of the newer VGA screen devices like an iPAQ hx4700 or a Dell Axim x50v. They will pair with the phone and allow web access or can connect via WiFi hotspots or home/work networks. They can often also dial out from the address book on the PPC. The bigger screen may have some advantages for you, but it is a pricier alternative to think about. (I know, heresy... but it's a thought in this situation.)
