iGolf to Deliver SD/IO GPS Solution With Mapopolis

I have been one of those guys that hasn't really cared that much about SD/IO in my pdaPhone.... until now. I have tried WiFi in the past with my PDAs and didn't really find a personal need for it. Given that WiFi is one of the biggest uses of SD/IO, I subsequently haven't placed SD/IO high on my needs list when selecting a pdaPhone. The last two pdaPhones I've tried, however, have proven to be a challenge to use a GPS with, since they don't supply a native serial cable. iGolf has given me something new to think about.

iGolf has announced an SD/IO compatible GPS that will be bundled with their own golfing software and Mapopolis. I'm a huge fan of Mapopolis. I have used it extensively on the Pocket PC platform and find it to be very powerful and intuitive to use. So, the Mapopolis part of this announcement helped to get my attention.

iGolf is taking advanced orders for the SD GPS HERE. If you place an advanced order, you save $50 off of their suggested retail price of $349.99. They are expecting to ship the SD GPS in November.

You can read the full press release at iGolf.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Wow...

If this had memory, like 128 mb, and was sold without the cost of the bundled software, this would be a GREAT solution to the GPS problem for the i700. You could then use the software of your choice and have room for the maps!

Alas, we are so close...

Rob.

Need for GPS control on Microsoft .Net Platform

We are looking for a GPS control for a mobile tourism Application on a PDA and/or mobile phone. Our informational database should be accesibile on-line via Internet.
Can you propose a suitable device (PDAPhone) with GPS receiver and a software solution on Microsoft .NET Platform?
Thanks,
Carmen

I agree, any SD/IO GPS unit needs to have intigrated memory. But my Device doesnt even have SD/IO oh well, i can only hope that someone makes some software that is capable to useing the USB port on the G1000.
