Treo 650 on a slow boat

DigiTimes reports HTC, the true manufacturer of the Treo 650, is shipping in volume to Palm now. The question of the day? Where would the pdaPhone market be without HTC?

Treonauts has a nice comparison here. Of particular note are the greatly improved backlit keyboard... how did they do that? Also, the keys are larger and flatter, which I think will make them more like the Blackberry keyboard. The power button is also removed, and replaced by doubly using the Call End button. This is definitely a refinement to an already great product.

Are they serious! they missed bluetooth AGAIN!!!!! i hope it wasnt me who missed reading about it on the Treonauts comparison but i can swear that the search i did for the word blue on the website did not lead me into anything that talks about the phone having bluetooth.

i wish they would have a phone like the RIM Blackberry 7100T but in palm or windows or the P900 but with a key board. it always has to be missing something. even if their is a phone with Microsoft OS and a keyboard but the form factor is not nice and its bulky. when will they just do it! don't they read the postings on www.pdaphonehome.com !!!!!

Calm down man.
That's not even a full review. Just speculation comparing leaked photos vs. actual Treo 600.
Enjoy the pics but wait for an OFFICIAL announcement with full specs before jumping the gun.

Everything I have read concerning the Treo 650 (including preliminary design information at Treonauts) indicates that the T650 WILL have bluetooth built-in and will include the bluetooth headset profile. (Of course, nothing is definite until we see an official announcement from PalmOne).

If you look at the pictures on that Treonaut web site, the picture with the device on clearly shows the blue "B" bluetooth symbol on the top line

You've got way better eyes that I do... where do you see the Bluetooth symbol? Be specific please...

If it had Bluetooth, I'd expect to see a blue flashing LED up next to the one that is there now. That is also where I'd expect to see the Bluetooth logo.

Damn...took the words right out of my mouth. I've looked at those pics at Treonaut a million times (well...maybe six times) and I have yet to see a Bluetooth logo. I'm assuming what I should be looking for would look something like...

Actually, "clear" might be a bit optimistic Its that blue smudge by the battery symbol in the screen's upper right (above the 26 in the Aug 26th date).

Plus, I've seen other pictures with the bluetooth on, so its definitely there.

Ah... got'cha. I don't think that looks like a Bluetooth symbol at all, but I guess you could ask, "what else could it be up there?".

Ok, well at least now I know what you are looking at. If you can tell that is a Bluetooth insignia, you have far better vision than I (and I'm an eye doctor!)

A very large monitor helps But it is a bluetooth symbol.

These images are a little sharper:

Yep, that's better. Definitely a Bluetooth insignia. Thanks Dale!
