March Madness - pdaPhone Style!
Convergent

OK, while I've been glued to the tube watching some great NCAA men's college hoop, a different "March Madness" has quietly been taking place over at CNet. They have developed an interesting way to vote for your favorite...
correct. the i500 will go from Sprint's digital to Verizon's digital to Analog. Kind of covers all your bases there. And if you're looking for basic pda functions in a phone first option then why would you want the extra bulk of the 7135? If you need the extra features, then great. But if not, take advantage of the I5's size.
In my thoughts, the screen size is not the focus, the Resolution is! I know the Kyo (i think that is the one) has the extra bar up top which is a great idea. Kinda wish my Treo 600 had that. But both these screens are low Res. It could be a 4 inch screen or a 1.7 inch screen but they all are playing second fiddle to High Res. Once a Palm smartphone comes out with a design with a High Res screen (in either candy bar or flip form factor) All the phone's we hold so close and protect will be paper weights.
Originally posted by svtcarboy The Kyocera 7135 is definitely the best on the market. It is the only PDA phone which is usable as a phone, as none of the others have analog roaming (essential for use outside of cities).
The Samsung i500 has analog roaming, and it works pretty good (until I drifted over to the Treo 600 side of town)
I stand corrected on the analog roaming... blame it on bad (incorrect) store information.
However, I personally like the larger (though still very manageable) size of the 7135. It is much more comfortable and practical for using as your sole phone.
I bought a 6035 in the first place two years ago because it was large (and I got it cheap). I hate small phones almost as much as phones not shaped like phones.
Keep in mind the size of this phone is NOT listed correctly. It is 5.06" long, not 5.6" long with the antenna down and the flip closed. It is also 2.31" wide, slightly narrower than listed. Thickness is correct within measuring precision.
I looked at the Treo 600, and found it lacking as a phone (no flip closure, and a keypad that is small and difficult to use). As a PDA, I prefer graffiti over those mini keyboards as I can use graffiti quicker (even while sitll getting used to graffiti 2).

Because we all have a different set of "must haves", and those are in different orders, there will never be a "perfect" device.
But what I love about this site is listening to everyone compare and contrast these products. By far, this is the best tool for making informed decisions. Even if I would not decide to buy what you might own, I depend upon every opinion, to give me the best possible information.
I just wish I had a site like this for other things I buy... cars, insurance, ISP's, etc.....
i agree. the many "flavors" really give the viewer more ammunition when determining which device they want. you will certainly find more info here than you would at the wireless store...

Thanks Guys, this is great stuff.
Thanks! These kind of comments make the effort worth it. Most sites end up focussing on one device. It is a challenge to keep a balanced user base here.
