March Madness - pdaPhone Style!
Convergent

OK, while I've been glued to the tube watching some great NCAA men's college hoop, a different "March Madness" has quietly been taking place over at CNet. They have developed an interesting way to vote for your favorite...
Originally posted by Convergent You guys are welcome to invite non-pdaPhoneHome folks to vote. If you frequent other forums, feel free to invite them to cast their opinion here.
Do they have to be registered to vote in a poll?
I'll bet that post the poll thread URL over at TreoCentral might help the Treo get a few votes
That should quiet all the people that seem to conclude, based on conversations that take place here, that no one who owns a 7135 is happy with the handset.
Its rather odd that the 7135 is doing so well with exploding batteries and all. Makes me wonder if they 7135 users have lost their minds, ears or both.
Well, here's the bottom line (the trash-talkin' bottom line anyway...):
i500? Do we have to go over this again? The reason the i500 camp can't vote is because without any expansion, they've used up all their memory with the extra 3 programs they want to run and they've clogged up their phones too much to be able to cache a web page in order to use them as a mobile web surfing device. Maybe the iPod they carry on their OTHER hip can help them out with this...or they can always try using the other PDA they carry as well as the i500; it usually is carried next to the iPod
i700? Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I'm only 6'1", so I'm not quite tall enough to be able to carry it on my hip without scratching up the bottom of it from dragging on the ground; it's a bit big. Oh, and I think that maybe it's a bit too much of a hassle to call their fellow "users" to tell them about voting on this poll, what with the virtual keypad and all. I'm sure if I used one though, I'd "virtually" love it.
T600? They'd probably all LOVE to vote on this thing, but they probably can't quite see WHERE to vote since their screens don't seem to be able to stay centered. This is a good thing for us Kyo users of course, since our "line" on the voting graph will be the longest. It doesn't matter how far the screen has shifted, the Kyo graph will be able to be seen!
G1000? I can only curl about 140 pounds, so I have to work up to that one. If I really wanted something like that, I'd manufacture a belt clip for my 42" plasma...it'd be a bit smaller in form and lighter to boot!
How's this for a little trash talkin'? This should really bring some of them out. I'm sure glad Kyo has a perfect device with no issues to speak of (ha ha). Let the party begin...
I know some readers are a bit sensitive, so before you post in true anger and frustration, remember:
A) The 7135 is the best converged device in the US right now
B) You KNOW that A, above, is true
C) This is intended to be all in fun
NOW, let the party begin...

Not bad at all FirstTimer
Mikey..... does voting on this thing stop at any point in time? (I forget if that was mentioned). I think the Treo still has a chance to tighten the competition
The i500 and Treo 600 are starting to make a move ... can they catch the two front runners?
I'm going to leave the voting on for several weeks, or until the interest dies down. I have posted info about the poll on a few other sites to try and get a larger cross section. With 250K unique visitors a month, I would hope we could get more votes in the poll!

The wildcard for the Treo 600 is that it is perhaps the only pdaPhone in the competition that has a substantially larger user base at a forum other than pdaPH. And I think we all know the place I'm talking about Depending on how receptive they are to my request for their votes, it could make a huge difference

well it may not be the best, but in palm terms it is the LARGEST.
And that iPod comment. Pure Blasphemy. The iPod is for the sheep of the world that succumb to all the marketing hype and can't do any research on their own.

From a guy carrying an object on his hip that's stenciled "ACME" that's really pretty funny. Try putting the 7135 in your pocket and you'll see what I mean - I guess it has that great old effect of "...or are you just happy to see me..." sight gag.
Robert,
There are other devices with user bases in other places... but allowing non-members to vote should help. Seriously, this may come down to a "most widely used" type poll in the end... but its still all fun.
Where we'd normally frown on the trash talking... let it go here. This is March...er... April Madness after all! But be aware that the officials will call you on a foul if they see one. Not sure how we'll handle foul shots, and who knows what we'd do if we have to call a Technical...

well it's just a good thing Bobby Knight is not in this. Who knows what would happen if he started throwing around those 7135's and G1000's. He could take out a small country with those.
Samsung makes 2 of the best smartphones on the market. The i500 palm smartphone is the best because of its size and functionality, I love my service with Sprint. Calls are clear, and data speeds are excellent. The i700 has all the features of a pocket pc with the functionality of a phone with Verizon, which also has an excellent network like Sprint. I like the i500 as my favorite Palm smartphone and the i700 as my Windows Mobile smartphone. The 7135 is huge and it's to big for a flip-phone, it should be redesigned like the treo 600. Even so, the i500 is an awesome convergent device without an expansion slot, if it had an expansion slot, and a speakerphone, with external caller ID also, we wouldn't even need a forum for the best phone, that would be the best. Kyocera could learn a lot from Samsung. I carry the i500 and the i600,both are awesome devices, and I would never even think of buying a Kyocera, Handspring/Palmone, Ericsson, Blackberry, or any other company other than SAMSUNG.
