Google's Safe Browsing Initiative Causing Some Havoc

Many of our pages on PDAPhoneHome are now causing a Google initiated warning to show up saying the site is not safe. I've been working to try and resolve this problem for the last week or so and have been getting very frustrated with Google. I am not the only one. Their support forum is filled with webmasters complaining about the way they've handled this. In our case, it turns out that they uncovered some threads from 2003 and earlier that had problem iframes added to the posts. For those of you that have been around here for a while, you'll recall that we got hacked very severely back then. Well there are some remnants from that attack that were lingering in text in posts. I have taken the steps to make sure that can't happen again, and apologize for the inconvenience.

Now, however, is where the fun begins. Google has removed PDAPhoneHome from their Webmaster Tools warning system so that when I go in to check on it, there is no problem recorded. Because there is no problem recorded, there is no way for me to request that they review the site and lift their warning redirects. So I am stuck. They are still flagging the site to visitors as a problem, but they are showing it as fine to me. I am still trying to get their attention, but they don't provide any way for a webmaster to communicate directly with them. They yield God-like power with no accountability and leave people in this situation that we are in.

My main reason for posting this was to let you all know what was going on, and that we believe the site is fine. How long it will take to remove these warning messages, I can't tell you. If you want to get rid of them temporarily, you can turn off the warning message in your browser, but I'm not suggesting that you would want to leave it that way.

Thanks for your patience.
