I just went to a Samsung SCH-U740 because I wasn't using all the features of my Treo and wanted something smaller but I've got a problem with the calendar function. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't see a way to turn off appointment alerts and it gets really annoying to continually get alerts/reminders. Are there software upgrades or modifications available for the basic phone software? The staff at Verizon is of no help.

I'm having the exact same problem with my SECOND SCH-u740. It's really obnoxious. The alarm will go off, and then I'll go into my calendar to delete the entry, and the entry is nowhere to be found.

My first phone did this, and I took it back. Verizon swore up and down that they couldn't find anything wrong with the phone. Then it did it again, right there in front of them, so they gave me a new phone.

Now it's doing it again (and it will continue to do it, once every hour, at (9:15am, 10:15am, 11:15am, 12:15pm, etc. etc. etc.).

I plan to take it back today and get ANOTHER new phone. I'm truly very aggravated.

The alarms haunted me for weeks, but even though the appointment had passed. I even deleted the entry and everything else on that date and still had the problem. Then I finally connected the phone to my pc and the uploaded the calendar from the phone using Quicklink Mobile Phonebook and there it was - just waiting for me to delete it. For some bizarre reason the appointment was still there but just couldn't be seen on the phone's screen. I'd tried it all - power it off, then on again, remove the sim card, let the battery run all the way down and charge it back up again - but uploading it to the computer did the trick. I have had the same problem with THREE Samsung phones!
2 SCH-u740's and a previous model.

Verizon did the same thing with me -- updated the software at the store, etc. But the problem kept recurring and no one knew the answer.

To prevent an event from recurring over and over even though it does not show up in your calendar anymore (after it alerts you the first time), do NOT change the dafault end time of the event.
For example, if you set the Start Time for 1PM, the phone will automatically default the End Time to 1:30PM. Do NOT change the End Time to some other time like 2PM.

I hated to switch to the new Samsung Alias as I don't like "new and improved" interface, so I am glad this fix has worked.
