I want to buy a new PDA phone but...

My 2 year upgrade for Verizon is coming up in March, but I'd like to treat myself to a new phone this Christmas. I imagine I'd go to the Verizon store to have them switch the service over to my new phone -- first off, will they do this for me?

And secondly, if I do, what will happen to my old phone? Will they take it in the store and give me credit for it? Or take it in March? Or will I just completely lose out on the $$ savings from the 2 year upgrade?

You can get a new phone every 2 years and Verizon will let you keep your old one. I usually sell my old phones on eBay when I upgrade. You get a $100 discount on a new phone. You'll probably pay at least $150 with discounts and rebates for a PDA phone, but maybe a little less. Xmas sales can be great.

Good luck

Anytime I get a new phone I just give the old one to my kids. Since you are with Verizon you start a new contract really don't have to wait for March to get a new phone I believe.

You can actually still "use" the old phone on your line of service that you transfer to your "new" phone by going online to verizonwireless.com logging into MyAccount and do an "ESN swap". This is under "Upgrade phone" I believe. There is no charge for doing this online or through a CSR over the phone. You can't use both phones at the same time, just the one for which the ESN is active. But this can be very handy for times you would rather take out your old junk phone and leave the new one at home (so it won't fall in the water while fishing--or something).

WOW

I did not know that!! I thought you HAD to go to a Verizon Store!!!

How does the online thing work exactly?? Can I do it with a data plan to a non-data plan phone? (PDA phone to normal small phone)

One of the things I'm worried about is that whatever PDA phone I buy will be pretty big. But if I can switch to a small one online, for example before I go out to bars etc, then that would be awesome.
