The PDA charge went from 44.99 to 40 on my plan, the the $15.00 tethering charge still applies.

i don't think the data rate changes apply for smartphones/ppc. i think the unlimited plan stays at $45 for us then, unfortunately. that's what i've heard.

Hence the reason I left Verizon and went to Sprint. SmartPhone/PDA unlimited data on Verizon = $45/month, and it's not truly unlimited. On Sprint, $15/month and it is really unlimited. That was a "no brainer" switch for me.

New users now get the breaks. The local VZW store manager told me that its now $29.99 plus voice call rate, for unlimited data! New accounts only.....but if you get a phone online, they give you $100 price break, but you won't get the $29.99 rate. No $100 off at a store. They get you coming one way or the other!

I am in the market for a " smart phone "
I have no idea what I want or need since I have never had one before.
I just got back from Verizon and spoke to a sales rep for almost a hour. I am coming up on a " new every two " new phone credit of 100$. He told me that if I buy a new phone from them once my new every two credit comes along on the 24th, I will get a 100$ credit for the new every two... and a 100$ credit for purchasing the phone and signing up for the data plan. So basically I get 200$ off the price.
The Motorola Q they had looked nice and with these discounts it would end up costing me 50$ total. This is what I will probably get unless I learn more about these phones and decide to get something else.
He told me the data plan is 44$ a month ( or maybe he said 42$, I can't remember exactly ) and that it is for unlimited use.
I told him I saw where someone online was saying it wasn't truely a unlimited plan, and then he said.... "Well yeah, our plans have a 2 GB monthly limit " Then he goes on to tell me he doesn't think it is even possible to reach 2GB of usage per month. I personally have no idea how much 2GB is to know if he is right or wrong.
I think I am going to sign up on the 24th and get some kind of phone where I can get internet and emails on the phone. I don't mind paying the extra 40 some off bucks if the internet on the phone will look and work like the internet does on my computer

Here is a write-up on VZW and thier "unlimited" data plans Verizon Changes TOS to Define ‘Unlimited’
Hope this helps. But why pay 40 +/- bux a month for a data plan? Thats a lot of money. Almost everwhere I go I have some sort of WiFi available. So I personally would not pay it unless nothing was available or my company paid fot it.

So, let me get this straight, I could save $15 per month if I switched to a Blackberry Pearl?
