Sprint SMS and "Chat" Charges

1. I have a question about how Sprint charges SMS text messages. If someone sends me a text, and it pops up on my phone, but I don't actually go into messaging to view the text, do I still get charged for the text message?

2. I've been getting $.50 charges for "Chat" on my sprint bill. The only thing close to chat that I am using is MSN Messenger and SMS (but I have a SMS plan). Do they charge us to use MSN Messenger?

I have a 100 SMS text plan and Power Vision plan. Why am I getting charged $.50 for "chat"? I had 2 of those charges this past month, and the only "chat" i did was with MSN Messenger on my PPC6700.....

well you should call pcs and ask them. thats the best way to handle this. the longer you wait the more damage you may do.

it could be an erorr in your account OR you could be over your 100 sms limit.. hard to tell unless you speak to them...

Text messages are billed for when they are sent over the network. when your phone confirms that it is recieved you are charged, it doesnt matter if you open it or not as the network has no way ok knowing if you did or not, only if it was recieved.

"chat" is probably a premium text message. If you are getting texts from a 4-8 digit number that is probably it, you can call Sprint and find out where they are comeing from or wait for you bill and it may apear there as "premium" charges.
