Exclamation Fastest internet service

What is the fastest internet service (phone & company) that has a PDA phone? I'm currently using the Hitachi G1000 on Sprint's network and am not at all thrilled with the speed for simple browsing, not to mention downloading.

Sprint is one of the fastest, until the newer technology is fully rolled out. All the carriers are working on the next generation of high speed, but it will take some time to get it out, and have devices that use it. Depending on your market, Sprint and Verizon both have tests in some markets.

verizon has rolled out EV-DO service in some markets. judging from your name i am guessing that you are in NYC and that is one of the markets that has EV-DO available. the audiovox XV6600 supports the EV-DO service and would be a very comperable unit to the G1000 you currently have.

so you know what to expect as far as speed goes, EV-DO service has a maximum theoretical speed of 2.4Mb/s (thats bits) but you should expect speed between 300 and 500 kilobits per second. so you would probably average around 60 kilobytes per second.

in locations where EV-DO is not available you will be able to pick up on verizons 1Xrtt service that would be the same speed as sprints network. aside from verizons EV-DO service 1Xrtt is the fastest service going and it is available from both sprint and verizon.

but you should also be aware that verizon charges $50 per month for this data service or $45 per month if it is paired with a calling plan that is $35 per month or higher. expect to see your bill go up quite a bit if you switch from sprint to verizon.

best of luck.
