WTF!!!! Where did the Sammy come from!!! Much nicer exterior than the Daxian unit. I always liked the Daxian feature set but hated the exterior. I need more specs on this Sammy. Surely it has a speakerphone. What is processor speed I wonder.

Very nice! I like the look of that first PPC (still VGA camera though??). The Treo looks very nice... but why no wi-fi? The other 2... thanks but no thanks!

Yeah, that Samsung looks pretty sweet. Megapixel camera too. Nice! The only thing is, what is up with the keyboard? Doesn't appear to have a full keyboard. Looks more like a phone pad that slides out. We definately need more info on this Samsung though. I need to know what it has before I make another purchase. I am prepared to buy the Daxian as soon as it comes out. But if this Samsung is the better model, maybe I'll just wait a few more months or whatever and just get the Samsung. But I need to know what it has and when to expect it.

The one thing I don't see on the Samsung is Bluetooth. Anyone hear anything that would indicate Bluetooth is available? I love the idea of having wi-fi for broadband connectivity when available, and I want to be able to use my Bluetooth headset with whatever new device I get. The new HP from T-Mobile has both, but it's not now and never will be EDGE enabled, which means you're stuck with GPRS. Incidentally, I visited a local T-Mobile store to see the HP, and the staff had absolutely NO idea what to even do with it. I left after watching the "lead technician" try to force the power cord into the earphone jack - fortunately unsuccessfully They never were able to get the device to power up, much less demo it.

A Sprint PCS CSR told me she is positive this phone will be released on October 1 along with the rest of Sprint PCS' new models. Can anyone second this?

I would like more info about this too. I am really curious about the new Samsung Pocket PC Phone. But I want more info about the Daxian and the Samsung. I am definately getting one of them though. Probably whichever one comes out first (unless the other just blows it away and it comes out shortly after).

FCC info

Here's the FCC filings and such for the Qtek 9090 (essencially the same as the Dax). It's got the usual pics of the guts and users manual.

It looks less like a slide out to me than a variation on the new Blackberry described in today's Times: each key chooses more than one letter, and the logic circuit straightens it out into comprehensible language. Sounds crazy but it could be a great idea. As you type, it is gibberish, but only until you finish the word. Then it suddenly makes sense. Capitals are handled simply by holding down the key. That would be a relief.

What was in the above pictures and what is filed at the FCC looks like 2 different things. The FCC shows a full Qwerty keyboard.

The blackberry key economy solution sounds like it would be a real pain when you are trying to write something that may not be straightforward Language. For instance: bilingual or source code. Other then that, seems like a good idea.

Yep, I agree, from the official declaration, RIM claims that they produce what the consumers wanted... the issue is that they try to go after the mainstream users with this affordable device, and those consumers have no idea about what they want. At the end of the day, their keyboard sucks as much as a regular one for any kind of typing.

Daxian CU928 or PPC6600 << when will it come out? (SPRINT)

Hey guys, does any one know when SPRINT will come out with a real Pocket PC phone? I keep getting "we're about to come out with some new ones soon" for the past year now. My 2032 is such a piece of crap. I mean it's a good phone, never have to reboot it or anything, but it's soooo old! Any help will be appreicated.

Are there a lot of Pocket PC guys on here? I'm new, I am not too sure about going back to Palm OS, but it seems that the Treo Ace/650 will be coming out sooner? I've even heard it will be out by October 18, at http://www.treoace.com/

Thanks guys.

No one knows for sure. Rumors have the Sprint PPC phones coming out anywhere from now until the end of the year.
